Meta AI is transferring gears to the race, and claims that its systems have begun to improve themselves. A potential initial step towards the artificial sprintillence (ASI). But in the same breath, CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the company will no longer release its latest AI model to the public, citing security concerns.

In a newly published policy article, Zuckerberg revealed that Meta’s AI has begun to improve its capabilities without human input. Although its speed is “slow for now, but undeniable”, it developed this progress as a fundamental moment on the way to the ASI -AI system that not only overtakes humans in every domain but can be prepared by itself.

Researchers often describe ASI as the next grief over the Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), which matches human adaptation. The AGI is considered a key milestone before the “intelligence explosion”, where AI can improve rapidly from human control.

For years, Meta has eliminated her open source approach about AI, which is freely available to researchers and developers like Lama. Now, that policy is changing.

Zuckerberg says the company will continue to release competitive models, but the latest system will remain internal to avoid potential misuse.

He warned, warning, introducing “novel protection concerns” that demand strict control, even at the expense of openness.

The meaning of the open source is the IT of those who are unfamiliar with, the software that is based on the principle that its source code (instructions that works it) is freely available to see, use and edit anyone freely. A great example of a completely open source chat boot is lamp sack.

The openness allows developers around the world to help improve, fix security flaws and adapt the software to specific requirements. It also promotes transparency, as anyone can inspect the code how it works and ensures that it is reliable.

However, it also comes with safety concerns as Zuckerberg is referring to in which the guard rails can also be removed, it is difficult to know who is using the software for damage because there is no gatekeeping.

The aspirations of Meta’s sprintilles are now placed under a new division: Meta Sprinteline Labs. Launched in June 2025, the group is based in Menlo Park, California, and allegedly oversee the development of the highly secret “Behmot” model. It is said that Tech data are important parts of the move Alexander Wang and Net Fredman.

Meta’s decision is dissatisfied with rivals like Open, which still provides limited access to its flagship models through public platforms.

The move creates big questions for the AI industry:

    • Open pin vs. safety: How much should the public access to the powerful AI?
    • Competitive edge: Could hold Top Terror models can have a strategic benefit in the AI arms race to Meta?
    • The risk of cooperation: Will Privacy AI slow down joint progress in research?

    Down line

Meta -Superintendents are laying their flags in the conversation and is ready to change its long -standing point of view. It is difficult to know if it is a necessary safe guard or bid for special AI domination, but in any way, it will potentially explain the next chapter of the company’s role in the AI race.
