Microsoft will end Windows 10 support in October this year. In response, as many users transfer to expanded support options or switch operating systems, a California resident has filed a lawsuit against the Tech Dev. The plaintiff claims that Microsoft’s move to eliminate Windows 10 support is a counting attempt to push users towards buying new hardware and reinforcing its dominance in the Generative AI market. A court order has been requested under legal action, which requires Microsoft to provide free assistance for Windows 10 unless its user base comes.
California man sued Microsoft for terminating Windows 10 support
A southern California man named Lawrence Klein has filed a lawsuit against Microsoft under the ID 25CU041477C (VIA). He owns two laptops who currently run on Windows 10 but are not eligible to upgrade to Windows 11. Klein claims that once the end of Windows 10, his laptops will be effectively unusable.
LIFI allegations allege that Microsoft is trying to dominate the Generative AI by encouraging users to transform into Windows 11 machines, which already comes with its AI assistant, Coplot. These features work best with the neural processing unit (NPU), which is found in the new PC but absent in old models. Said in legal fodder,
“With just three months until support for Windows 10, it is likely that many millions of users will not buy new devices or pay for expanded assistance.” These users – some of whom are sensitive consumer data storage businesses – will be a high risk of cybertack or other data security incidents, the fact that Microsoft is well aware of. ”
“In other words, the impact of long -term business strategies to secure Microsoft’s market dominance is to risk not only Microsoft users but also people who cannot use Microsoft’s products at all.”
Clean is also seeking a judicial order that Microsoft needs to provide free support for Windows 10 until the number of operating systems operating equipment is below appropriate limit. Legal proceedings have also been tried for coverage of legal fees.
Microsoft had earlier announced that it would end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. Users with Windows 10 running devices are recommended to upgrade to Windows 11. The latest version of the OS does not meet the technical requirements to run on the Windows 10 Consumer Extended Security Updates (ESU) program or support this device with Windows 11.
