In our society, the AI is more and more tied up, and this trend will only continue. Ever since they launched, I have been using Chattagpat and Gemini, and honestly, I can’t even imagine my work day without them. I also use them for personal projects, which means I have shared enough private information with these chat boats.
This raises an important question of privacy. Are you really comfortable in sharing your most intimate ideas and ideas with a chat boot that will use your data for training? Although some people don’t care, the growing number certainly does. The Proton is aware of this, which is why he recently announced Lumo-the first AI chat boot of a privacy.
But is Lomo a good thing, and should you consider making a switch? Let’s dive and find out.
How much do you care about privacy when AI Chat boats are talked about?

I care, but not enough to get out of AI training.

I am aware of the potential for privacy but I don’t care.

First Things First: Does Lomo Different?
Before we reach part of the post, it is important to understand that Lumo is separated from rivals like Chat GPT and Gemini. The company behind it, Proton, makes a bold claim: Lomo is very private from the box. This means that your data will never be used for AI training. In addition, all your chats have been secreted and deleted, ensuring that you can read them. It also guarantees that your data will not be shared with anyone for advertising or other purposes.
Proton has also emphasized that it is based in Europe, which is proud of the strict privacy laws than in many other regions. In addition, the Lumo Open Source language model is made. This means that it is not in partnership with the Openi (which operates Chat GPT) or any other multi -billion dollar US or Chinese corporation.
When Chat GPT or Gemini’s choice is quite the opposite. Both of these services will save your chats as defaults, use them to train their AI models, and even assign to real humans in the hope of improving overall services. When you think about it, there are ways to reduce it, but I will talk about a while.
So, is Lomo a good one?

Earlier impressions are important, and I have to say, the Lumo did not start strong. I asked how much time it takes to fly from Paris to Berlin, and the answer I got is that I need to turn on the “Web Search” feature to get an answer. What I did, asked again, and the same answer. This happened several times. Chatboat eventually gave me a proper and correct answer, but then when demanding different paths, the same problem continued to be repeated. Not at all good start.
Then I proceeded to ask which of the best phones I could buy in less than € 1,500. It immediately me. It was a list, but it contained two years of phones. They included Pixel 7A, One Plus 11, and the iPhone 15 Pro. On the contrary, the free version of Chat GPT provided the latest list, as was the premium version of Gemini. Lomo’s cut -off date is April 2024, so it does not have access to the latest information, surprisingly, the web search feature has not been turned on.
Things got better than there.
Things got better than there. I fed the chatboat a rough draft of one of my posts and asked it to list and fix the types of title as well as help in mind a title. There is no problem here. He did a decent job. I also asked him to summarize a document and help me find out the problems I had recently decorated while decorating his apartment, which had a way to connect a voice panel to the wall so that I could remove it without damaging the wall. Chatboat did a reasonable job, though the answers provided was nothing better than the GPT or the Gemini.
When asked to make a list of alternatives to Ocedian, Lomo provided a list, but I didn’t like how it answered it. This includes 10 options with a sentence detail for each, as well as a list of their key features pills. I prefer Chat GPT formatting, as it has rated alternatives through type (local first, cloud -based, etc.), which provided me more relevant information than I go. Unlike Lomo, Chattgop also asked me some questions, including whether I want to see the comparison table.

I said yes, and then Lomo also indicated to do the same. Both chat boats made tables, but when I liked Chat GPT, the Lumo table was a mess. It was very difficult to read, as you can see in the screenshot above.
So, what is the overall performance decision? Lomo’s performance is far from special. It provided me with some answers that I was happy with, but to turn on the web search feature (which did not happen often), providing information out of date, and the poor structure of data and tables means that when Chat GPT or Gemini does not really see any benefit.
There is no need to mention that Lumo cannot make pictures, it does not have a “deep research” function, or customs GPTS. So from a pure performance point of view, I do not turn myself into lomo at any time.
Performance is not special – privacy is

Based on my short time with Lomo, the proton does not pay much attention to raw performance. Instead, its privacy features have been highlighted, hopefully it will be enough to attract consumers. I mean, I was interested in trying it, so maybe there would be others.
However, it is worth noting that you can experience a similar privacy experience with Chat GPT and Gemini. Although they are not the first of privacy chat boats, you can disable the option to save your chats on AI training and both services. This means, like lumo, your chats will not be stored or used for AI training.
Even when you opt out, Google has access to your gymnasium messages for 72 hours.
However, there are some differences. Gemini’s terms say that even when you get out of it, the company has access to your messages for 72 hours for security and other reasons. It should not be with Lumo because the messages have been encrypted, so the company cannot read them even if it wants.
Therefore, there is a slight difference between the two, and I let you decide on myself whether this difference is able to make a switch to Lumo.
I am sticking with the gym

Personally, I have no compulsion to switch. If I want a privacy -based chat boot, I can adjust some settings and get a similar experience with Gemini. Perhaps this is not just like the full encryption of the Lumo, but it is good enough for me.
And when it comes to performance and all the additional features available, both Gemini and Chat GPT are an important step ahead of the proton’s chat boot. Their answers are the most recent, more detailed and better format.
Lomo feels like a half -baked product.
I like to see more chat boats popups because more competition is always better for our users. I expected a lot from Lomo because it is a proton product, but it feels like half a baked product right now. But hey, so was Gemini (and before Bard) when he first launched, and now this is my favorite chatboat.
Therefore, hopefully, in the next few months, the loomo will improve rapidly and become a real contender in space. Only time will tell.
What do you think about? Would you consider changing the Lomo because of its first promise of privacy? Tell me in the comments.
