The US government has confirmed that actor, known by a Chinese state known as Salt Typhone, was roaming the US Army’s National Guard’s network for nine months.
The Homeland Security (DHS) department said the attackers were in networks between March and December 2024.
During this time, the group stole sensitive data from its victims, including administrators’ credentials, network traffic arigram, geographical maps, and personally identified information (PII) of service members. In addition, the invaders accessed data traffic between the state’s network and every other US state, and at least four additional areas.
