I was never an athletic child, and it continued for most of my 20s. That is, unless I decided to change things, lose some weight and focus more on my health. Periodically fasting was a large part of the journey, and I have been following it for many years. In fact, it is a permanent journey in my welfare journey that is really trapped by me. As I have suffered from exercise plans, picked up the best fitness tracker, tracked macroes with madness, and even experienced with sleep correction, it is a 16: 8 -fast method I have done the most sustainable work for my health. The irony is that the one who has not been sustainable is the search for a one -fast app, which eventually does not go below the usual rabbit hole of ads and subscriptions. Trust me, I have tried them all.

Although most fasting and fitness apps begin to help, the basic experience is very quickly buried under micro transactions and basic features that are locked behind pay walls. In what fasting zone are you interested in? You will be ready to pay some cash better. What was free from customs fasting windows to simple insights is a sudden premium feature. And whenever I open the app, do not start the notification on Spam. Look, I just need a great stop watch. I don’t need your app to support a full welfare program and fees with it. So I did what someone will be able to ease the self -esteem: I saw the open source solution to this problem.

Similarly, I got a fast track, a minimum, open source, self -host, and the best fasting tracker on the gut hub. What is the lack of flash, it is included in the substance. Although it may not be dedicated to the play store or gamefound elements to keep you on the track, it has all the features you actually need. This simplicity is because I am stuck with it right now, and why you can be.

When I first started fasting intermittently, I was already deep in my fitness journey. Between trying to lose weight without exercise, counting of calories, and losing weight without falling more muscle mass, intermittently was an important part of fasting equality. But I need it without any unnecessary friction. Only one timer and a way to check how long I fast, without advising about reaching a zine.

The fast track keeps it easy with timer, log and basic weight tracking.

On the other hand, the fast track, for most parts, is just a simple timer app. It opens quickly as a bookmark in the browser and gives me the same button to start or stop fasting. Yes for simplicity. The on -boarding process is straightforward, in which no magician or welcome screens talk to me through the benefits of fasting. I already know what I am entering. Just create an account, login, tap the button, and move on with your day. In fact, I wish more apps worked like this.

This simplicity impressed me in more than one way. Without a permanent increase, information, or friction of the criminal interface, I began to track more permanently. This is the point that serious fitness fans take. Representatives with a spreadsheet, or notepad, if you are old school, win on a shiny app each time. The lack of this friction also helped me reach and exceed my daily goals because it is easy to lose the track of time when you are not being bombed by an hour’s notification that aims to please you. In my case, he just gave me anxiety about how much time my fast was left. In the last few months, I have not left a fast, and my food windows have become tough and more stable. It has directly translated into significant results. The percentage of my body fat is low, I have more energy during exercise, and most importantly, I have made a routine on which I remain diligent.

It is not just a stop watch with a shiny coat of fast track paint, fast track paint. It maintains a suitable log of all my fasting and allows me to add comments, which has helped samples on my fitness journey. All the data are maintained locally, and I can easily look at it when I am likely to faster short cuts or long -fast windows. It has also been extremely useful in improving my nutrition. If I am running permanently at the end of fasting without any significant physical activity, it is clear that my calorie intake is much less. Especially after heavy exercise, I often eat before planning. All this is clear, certain, but keeping this figure on the hand helps me see a wider sample and a big picture. In fact, I would say that the data -powered feedback loop has done a better job for me than any stimulus obtained from trading apps.

As a person who prefers purposeful tools and devices, using something that gives me a strange kind of excitement that doesn’t try to shake me. Fast track does not submit any notifications. It only runs as a device. And that’s why, I opened it more often and used it more honestly. Due to the lack of gaming parameters, I did not encourage me to remove 30 minutes of fasting daily. Nor was I worried about breaking a strike or opening a collective. I just focus on tracking my progress, which is exactly what I need to target specific goals for someone and to maintain a training plan.

    Setup is worth trying

    Dhu Bhutani / Android Authority

Look, I am well aware that the tools that are self -hosting are not for everyone. As easy to set up, the lack of availability of the play store or App Store, or one click setup, certainly increases the difficult level. You have to target the command line, install the doer, and then pick it up. To deal with you as well – a Local Host is. If you want to access it from afar, you would like to create a reverse proxy. But once it is installed, I don’t need to touch it again. Given the simple feature set, the app is lighter on resources, so I just pop it on my NAS. Flip side, as I have mentioned earlier, there is no cloud sink or dedicated app, so remote proxy is a need if you find yourself often on the move. He said, this is easily eliminated by serving like a tail scale.

No self -host app will be as easy as downloading a cloud -based app, but data ownership and simplicity enable it.

If it looks like a lot of work to track the fast, I will be honest, the initial setup. Especially when there is no shortage of apps like Zero on the Play Store. But since I take the most of the data ownership and deal with subscription fatigue, I am fine with a timely attempt to set up open source alternatives. They are all other apps attached, whether they are dudd data retention policies, invisible microorganications, or permanent AD and notification spam. If you refuse access to the Internet or want to add personal notes to your log, some of them will not work. This is not going to go for me. The fast track does none of it. It provides me with full control over the experience in exchange for a little more effort during the setup process.

Why am I sticking with a fast track

I have tried all the popular fasting apps in the past years. Most were beautiful, well polished interfaces than the more useful of the fast track. Others sought to fast with the characteristics of society, sleep tracking, or comprehensive well -being. But none of them helped me build such a consistency with the fast track in the past few months. Not because they were not capable, but because they all tried to do a lot of work. One of the biggest strength of the fast track is that it doesn’t try to become anything else. And at the end of the day, consistency is the most important, whether you are focusing on your health or trying to stick to using an app daily.

The simplicity and focus of the fast track helped me to be more sync with my health and see concrete results.

The fast track has also provided me with useful, disturbing insights about my usual. I have saved it as a shortcut on my home screen, which allows it to integrate in my day without interruption without any problem. And the best thing is that it has helped me stick to his fasting window, which has helped me target physical structure goals that I have been chasing for more than a year.

Certainly, there are more easy apps, and the best app is what you work for. The fast track may not be everyone’s, but to be serious about fasting, which is fed up with the clutter experiences, it may be the last fasting app that you need.
