Mac Mini is a desktop for MacOS users, and this is a good reason. It is powerful, thanks to the M4 processor (and earlier M1 and M2), it is also calm and effective due to the same silicon and its smart software correction. But most of all, the reason is that it is Apple’s cheapest computer, starting only 9999/599/INR 59,900.
This basic price, however, comes with a huge warning – on -board storage is a measure of 256 GB. And unlike other computers, you can’t upgrade yourself. The purchase of 512GB version from Apple will cost you 200 // € 250, which is a significant increase in the price for only 256GB more storage.
This is the place where the storage dock for Mac Money comes in the game – it not only expands the ports on Mac Money but also allows you to add SSD storage to the system, and in this process, it also looks good.
Today, we have such a dock for a test from Belink. His name is appropriate, fellow mini. So is it available to the Mac Money Posts available in the sea?
Fellow mini dock
Well, for the starters, Belink’s fellow mini Thunderbolt is 5, which means it has a bandwidth of 80 GBPS, which puts it above your Diam-A dozen 10GBPS posts on Amazon. The added bandout opens the dock’s perifier’s ability for Mac Money – basically, you have more bandwidth to run more things on it. An external monitor, external storage, etc.
Belink Met Mini comes in two settings. The fellow mini -A, which has two M2280 PCI slot, has two lane (X2) jointly for 16 TB, or Met Mini B, with four lane (X4) with an M2 2280 PCI slot with four lane (X4) up to 8 TB.
The partner promises mini and speeds up to 3,600MB/s and 3,400MB/s, and writes up to 7,000MB/s and up to 5,000MB/s, respectively.
We have a model with two M.2 slot (a). At the time of this article, it costs $ 139 (without SSD), 9 279 with the main SSD of 2 TB, and $ 460 with 4 TB main unit on the Belink website.
Ports-SD, 2x USB-A, Ethernet, 3.5 mm, 2x USB-C
Let’s talk i/o. You have a SD 4.0 (UHS-II) card slot on the right, which has a maximum reading speed 312MB/s. There is a light of electricity indicators in the front. In the rear section, a USB-A 3.0 port (5GBPS), a 2.5GBPS Ethernet port, another USB-A 3.0 port, a 3.5mm audio jack, Thunderbolt 5 USB-C port (80 GBPS), and another USB-C used for power supply. This is the last use when you have added 15W strength to the peripherals.
An active cooling fan has been made in fellow semen and heat sink. During our testing, we cannot say that we have ever heard fans working – this secret is silent.
A great match for McMuni
The Belinkian ship is designed to connect two Thunderbolt 5-Complaint USB-C from USB-C cables, especially to connect fellow semen to Mac Money. One is that when put under the Mac Money, connect the dock, and the other when you have a desktop under the dock. There are easy guidelines on the cables to avoid confusion.
Can go to the bottom, or to go up
You will need to open a fellow mini dock to install M2SSD. You will need some basic electronic tools, but a € 10 tool cut will be done on Amazon.
First, remove the stick on rubber feet. Below are two flips head screws. Remove them and you are inside.
Then, to access two SSD slots, you have one more patch. Each SSD slot has a small screw to fix the SSD in the space.
Open the balconic mate mini
We have this 500GB Samsung 970 Avo PCI General 3.0 X4 SSD for a while and they are using it as an external drive for Mac Money in the USB-C wall. But now when we have a Belink Met Money dock, we thought we could install it too and see if it was faster or not.
PCIE GEN 3.0 X4 SSD 3,400/2,500 MB/S is worth reading/writing speed but is a barrier through USB 3.2 enclosure, which was only 5 GBPS. Putting the SSD in the dock for 80 GBPS should make it slightly faster.
And really, if you look at us before and after the test, when tested inside the dock, there is a significant range of reading in the 970 EVOs. It is about 40 % faster. H.265 4K video writing and reading, which is mostly used by SSD, is also 40 % faster.
You might get even faster with fellow mini B, with a single M.2 2280 PCII slot with four lanes (X4). However, instead of just adding the SSD to any storage upgrade from there, the SSD will need to be replaced by a new one. So you potentially lose a bit of storage speeds.
Left – SSD in the USB wall; Right – SSD within the dock
The second advantage of using SSD in the cooling dock instead of the USB-C wall is maintained. Under the long burden, the SSD can really be warm inside the wall. Here, we will find comfort in knowing that it is being properly cooled.
Word
The Belink Matti McIn Mac Money Looks like an excellent match in terms of design. This not only allows you to increase the flexible storage available, but it also adds several ports to the system and even the card reader.
Since Apple will receive $ 200/€ 250 from you for the 512GB version of Mac Money, it seems that the smart move is only to get the twenty version and upgrade the storage through such a dock, so it is able to recommend the purchase.
