- Samsung killed his “classic” dex in an UI 8, and replaced a new version built above Google’s ancestral desktop mode in Android.
- The move connects Dex with Google’s wider efforts to improve Android’s desktop capabilities, which will benefit Dax in a long time.
- However, the new dex is currently a decrease for users, as it lacks many life features that were present in the classic version.
Samsung Dax is one of the best features of an UI, which you turn your powerful Galaxy phone or tablet into portable PC. You easily connect your Galaxy Device to an external display, fired the dex mode, and connect some accessories, and you have a full -fledged experience of desktop. Dex has been ready over the years, but the latest one UI 8 release still brings its most important changes. Samsung has killed the “Classic” Dax experience, and has replaced a new version that is allegedly down grade for now. However, this change is ready for beautiful payment in the future. Why is it here
Samsung introduced Dex with the Galaxy S8 series in 2017, before Google added an initial desktop mode to Android two years later. Since Android requires a locally dex, Samsung has to make significant changes to the hood under hood in the operating system. For example, Samsung edited the Core Android components to include his desktop winding system, a dedicated desktop launcher, and a better attached display experience. It needed a wide range of efforts that did not stop at the initial launch, as Samsung had to advance these traditional changes through numerous Android Release.
Samsung is in the business of selling Android phones and Windows PC (… and one ton of other things), however, they have little incentive to invest Android into a full desktop OS. As a result, Dax has long been just a “quite good” who wants to see the media or do the media, but for professionals, it has never been so strong to completely replace the traditional PC.
Google, however, is a different story. The company has spent many years trying to go to the PC market with Chromos, which has seen great success in the education sector. But the development of the two operating systems simultaneously is inadequate, so Google is developing its resources to integrate both platforms. This effort involves bringing a lot of chrome OS features to Android, such as Chrome’s desktop version that has extension support, a Linux environment and more.
As part of these efforts, Google is eventually adding a new attached display experience to the appropriate desktop winding and Android. The Android 16 Release introduces a desktop mode with many dexus features, such as support for the Task Bar and Frefurum app Windows at the bottom. This new mode, in fact, is made on the basis of Samsung Dex. Google and Samsung supported Android to improve desktop winding, which we see today.
Google now, with desi desktop format for Android, Samsung no longer needs to maintain its own heavy edited version of Dex. Doing so will be contradictory, in which Samsung needs to permanently adapt to the risk of breaking the risk with Google changes and apps made for large screens. Although phone makers often stick to their software features even after introducing Google stocks, this situation is different. The desktop mode is ready to be the main part of Google’s future Android strategy, making it necessary to adopt it.
Samsung, in fact, began the migration with its “new” dex format of bullets in an UI 6.0. Although the company still submitted its “classic” dex as an option, it has removed it in an UI 8 to focus on building features in the upper part of Google’s native desktop mode. This change is ultimately a good thing, as it means that Samsung Dax will inherit new features and new features and improvements introduced by Google in the coming years.
However, the initial transfer can upset some users. The current version of the Dax in an UI 8 lacks many small features of life that Samsung has added to his classic mode in the past years. With the help of Reddet user’s scattered chicken, we compiled the following list of differences in Samsung’s “Classic” Dex and New Dexes:
- Toggle toggle Start auto when HDMI is attached Dax has been removed from the settings. However, this has been changed effectively Growth Under Settings Options> Attached Devices> Samsung Dex> Attached Display, as default, Dax will now start when the phone screen will be extended to the external display.

As far as we can tell, the only proprietary dex components that are left are its touchpad, wallpaper settings, S pen integration, and wireless display connectivity. Fortunately, the new version of Dax maintains most of the basic functioning of the classic experience, so most people should be satisfied.
Although Samsung can add some classic features to future updates, there is no guarantee. One thing is certain, however: Samsung will not return to its old dex implementation. However, Google commits its desktop Android projects, assuming, the future of the new version of Dex looks bright.
