Here comes the Realme GT8 riding on the coattails of the GT8 Pro. The pair made their official debut in China today, and while vanilla looks and feels the same on paper, there are some subtle differences.

For starters, the camera island isn’t customizable, so you’d better choose what you like. The GT8 ships in white, green and blue, just like a pro. The micro purchase ends in green, while the other two are faded.

The Realme GT8 packs the 2024 Snapdragon 8 Elite instead of the Elite Gen 5 inside the GT8 Pro. Another difference is the 7,000 mAh battery, which takes slower 100W wired charging (vs. 120W), but is still only 2 minutes behind the Pro at 100% at 45 minutes. You don’t get wireless charging, though.

The vanilla is apparently the same 6.79-inch 1440p Amoled with a 144Hz LTPO panel and up to 2,000 nits of high brightness (and 4,000 nits of peak brightness).

But the Realme GT8 packs a technically inferior camera system. The main camera is the same 50MP 1/1.56-inch sensor with a 22mm F/1.8 lens, and it’s still powered by photography courtesy of Ricoh. You get Ricoh’s color science with different shooting modes like High Contrast B&W, Monotone and Standard. Ricoh cameras are known for their sharp images and natural colors and contrast.

But other cameras are different. The zoom is a 50MP unit (not 200MP) and has a long 80mm F/2.8 lens. It can be a different unit from an inferior one, per second.

Ultrawide is an 8MP with a smaller sensor, and Ultrawide only has half the resolution at 16MP.

Realme GT8 boots Android 16 based on Realme UI 7.0. The camera app has seen a new design to redesign the phone’s Ricoh support.
