Last week we asked you for your thoughts on how we should structure our phone finder tool to make it easier to find foldable phones with the right dimensions. Here’s how voting works.
Most people prefer that only paired dimensions are used when filtering phones based on their thickness, width, and height. People had a simple reason for voting this way – most of the time, the phones stay connected. Of course you keep them closed, but with the rapid improvement of cover displays (especially on flip-foldables), you can do a lot more without opening the phone.
Another large group prefers filtering by joint thickness, but using open dimensions for width and height. The thinking behind this choice is similar, although the scales tip the other way – you still connect the phone, but you use it more open than closed.
The two different styles of foldables are used differently, making it difficult to come up with a single solution that works well for both. At least there are only two major styles, seeing as how rollable phones never took off (remember those?).

Foldable phones change size, which complicates things
In addition to polls, we also read all comments and will consider all suggestions. The challenge is that we want an interface that is intuitive for new users while still being powerful enough to allow advanced users to narrow down their search criteria.
We are still debating what the best approach is and will update you when we settle on a solution. Note that it will take some time for us to update not only the phone finder but also our database. Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions!
