What are electrolytes, and what do they do?

So, briefly: If you are sweating very much, if you are physically active in hot climate, if you have been ill recently or there are medical problems that cause more fluid deficiency (such as diarrhea or vomiting), you may benefit from electrolyte water. “It’s about balance, not too much,” says Ruttulf.
Which foods are more in electrolytes?
You may not be aware of it, but most people already get enough electrolytes through their daily diet. Melon says your body needs electrolytes every day. They support “hydration, nerve signaling and muscle function.” But you are already getting plenty of electrolytes from foods. “As long as you are eating a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables along with lean protein, whole grains, healthy fats, most people do not need to complete electrolytes every day,” says Golbin.
Here is a non -inconsistent list of food that provides electrolytes:
- Potassium: bananas, potatoes, eukados, spinach, orange, tomato, watermelon
- Sodium: pickles, olives, cheese, eggs, soups, seafood
- Calcium: dairy milk, cheese, yogurt, black, spinach
- Magnesium: nuts, seeds, whole grains
- Chloride: tomatoes, olive, celery, grapes, table salt
Drinks such as coconut water, fruit juice, and bone broth also contain a lot of electrolytes.

“Fluid requirements depend on the factors such as your size, age, activity levels and medicines such as drugs that affect the loss of your fluid,” says Amy Cho, registered Dyotashian Amy Cho. Are you sweating in a lot of sweat while working, and you have noticed that your urine is dark yellow? You can benefit from electrolyte water. Cho says, “For most people, plain water should be used for daily hydration for most people, especially if you are resting inside the house.” “Electrolyte water is not a treatment-this is a device. When your body demands are higher than normal, use it not regularly as a blanket for hydration.”

But you should avoid artificial sweeteners and consider your diet as well. If you regularly eat snacks or sugar snacks, you probably don’t need too much sodium or sugar in your electrolyte powder. Once again, you should talk to your doctor before starting a new supplement regime.
