There is less than six weeks left unless the NBN is on our way, but the NBN has let us go to a new secret that they are kept – and that’s a good thing.
Yesterday (August 5, 2025) was announced, NBN co -co -operative contributed with Amazon’s project Cooper to provide rural and regional communities across the country to provide ‘sharp in the city’ broadband. The Project Cooper is the lesser Earth orbit of Amazon (LEO) satellite arm, ready to start its first trade services in the United States later this year.
According to the announcement, Amazon’s LEO Satellite Network is launched in Australia in mid -2026, with the first area to reach Tasmania. To agree with the new tech issuance, NBN has confirmed the final phase to come out of its current Skymaster and Skymaster Plus satellite. These existing satellites are expected to remain viable and operational by 2032.

NBN CEO Eli Swini said the partnership would be a “Major Leap Forward” for Australian satellite Internet users. Swini noted that this partnership will bring speed of a delay and sharp broadband than those currently experimenting with Skymaster Tech.
“The Australian people, regardless of whether they live in a major city, are living in a major city or deserves to be accessed from their nearest neighbor.”
“By upgrading the next -generation Liu Satellite Broadband, a project cooker, we are working to bring the best available technology to the Auses in the bush.”
In order to achieve its goals, the project will deploy thousands of Leo Satellite, which is connected by high -speed optical links that will eventually create a “mesh network”. This web will be linked to the global network of antenna, fiber and internet connection points on earth. Globally, the Cooper Network will include more than 3,200 satellites. Amazon has already deployed 78 satellites into space this year.
