OK, so you The backyard grill was found. Congratulations, it is a bit like being in a sect. –
But in particular, the gradles have its own separate rituals. It is a cycle of cooking and cleaning and maintenance that is possible to love, but maybe even fear. On Reddate or Facebook, the posts of new gridles owners deceive anxious anxiety… am I doing it wrong? Why can’t I even see the black level on the gradles videos?
I tested and broken in just 10 new flat top girls this summer, so I get it. I have made mistakes. I have experienced the solution. Here is a sharp guide for grid seasoning and care, and some pieces of gear that will help you along the way.
Why the weather a grill?

Properly cooking a grill, and keeping it seasonal, is the best way to prevent your flat tops from getting rusty.
The cooking process involves heating dissatisfied fat, often over heat oil such as grape seed oil or canola oil, carbon steel or cast iron above unsafe metal. Once you reach the smoke point of each oil (afterwards), the liquid fat is a rigid, non -stick surface in the surface, which is chemically tied to the metal surface and filled with its holes.
It protects metal from oxidizing, which is good: this is the rust. It also makes your grill surface smooth and more hydrophobic, that is, it overtakes the water. This means that food is less likely to remain. All these things are what you want, the direction of cooking. But to achieve this effect, you will need a weaken thin, even coating… not a lot of oil sticky construction. What to do here
First, clean your grill with soap (probably)
Check your user manual before any initial cleaning. Some grinds, such as weber slate rust resistant gridles, urinate with food grade oils and already have a layer of cooked. This does not mean that you don’t have to make its season again – but that means you should not clean the spice and start it.

But most grids arrive with shipping oil, which aims to protect it on your journey, but what you do not want to keep. As a first step, you will need to clean your grill with soap and water.
Note that almost every guide of each grid maker says that you do not use soap and water to clean your grill top on the released basis: this is the first, last, and only when you use soap. But do this this time.
I support Don Power wash spray ($ 5) and a sponge instead of rotating with the bucket.
