Reddit will be further bent in search of the coming months. The company is already working on a plan to integrate its LLM -powered search into its main feature, but CEO Steve Hofman said they want users to think of the site as a real search engine.
During the company’s latest income call, Huffman said the search is one of the top priorities of Reddit. “We are focusing our resources on areas that will advance the results of our most suppressed needs, improve the basic products, create a search engine to be Reddate, and expand internationally.”
The idea of reddate as a search engine is not so far. Many people are already in the habit of adding “reddates” to traditional searches in hopes of finding site -related threads. And the company is trying to take advantage of it with its AI -powered search product reddate answers. Although this feature is still labeled in the “son”, the company eventually plans to include it in its default search bar.
Huff Man said, “Our focus is now on uniting the Reddest search, such as the traditional search on Reddate, which is widely used on Reddate, and the new Reddate Answers Product … We are uniting these people into the same search experience, and we are going to bring this front and center into the app.”
Huffman’s comments come at a time when AI is eating rapid search traffic for websites. It looks like reddate, which has a multi -million dollar data license deal with Google, is not safe from these trends. During the call, Huffman said the traffic from Google from Google’s “Weekly Weekly Week,” but this overall “This was a head window” during the last quarter.
This can help to explain why the Huffman Reddate is so anxious to make itself a search destination, even as the company continues its data license to AI companies. “Ai does not invent knowledge,” he said. “It learns from us; from real people, sharing the real point of view.”
