The WhatsApp is said to be developing a new feature for its Android app, which aims to improve photography in low light conditions. According to the feature tracker report, the camera interface of the beta version of the Instant Messaging app has a dedicated option of night mode. It is allegedly improves the explanation and brightness of the icon when shooting in a low light environment, without applying any overlays or stylization on the image.

Night mode on WhatsApp for Android

According to the WhatsApp feature tracker Wabitinfo, the Night mode option was discovered for Android version 2.25.22.2 in the WhatsApp beta, which has been designated as a compatible update. The Instant Messaging Client, owned by the meta platforms, is probably preparing it for release in the next version of the app.

Based on the aforementioned screenshot combined by the feature tracker, a moon icon has been added to the upper right corner of the camera interface as well as a moon icon. Taping this makes the night mode toggle. However, it does not automatically switch on the basis of the condition of the acidic light and requires a manual switch.

When occupied in a low light environment, the development feature applies software -based improvement to adjust the image exposure and reduce the noise. According to Wabitinpho, it enables the camera to get more detail in the shadow without the need for dedicated light source. When the indoor shots are occupied or at night when natural light is not appropriate, this feature is claimed to be useful.

However, if the picture is caught in the very low light scenario, it can only improve the quality of the image. It will not produce a very bright and detailed image, and it is not said that professional photography is an alternative.

Wabitinfo reports that the camera interface is available to select Night Mode Option Beta Testers in the camera interface registered by the Google Play Beta program. This feature can be developed for more and more users with the next version of the app in the coming weeks.
