There is a lot of love about some of the best foldable phones, but it cannot be denied that they are valuable. This Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is doubled, priced at $ 2,000. This is more than some of the best laptops, so you will expect them to replace them, okay?

In imagination, Thanks to Samsung Dax, it should be possible to convert your laptop to the Samsung phone. If you have never heard of Dax, it allows you to connect your phone to an external display like monitor or TV, essentially converting your phone into a mini -PC. I never tried this feature, so I thought I would try to change my work laptop for a day to find out how it all works.

Here are some ground rules I have set myself: I will try to phone with both an attached keyboard and the mouse, and without them to see what is ideal. I also made sure to write at least one piece using the feature. In this case, it was a story about the Galaxy S26 ultra, which used the same battery like last year’s Galaxy S25 ultra.

So, with my parameters set, let’s enter how my morning walks. Spilller: It wasn’t very good.

Keeping the phone is easy and faster

In fact, setting up a phone with my monitor was amazingly easy, because I just had to connect with the phone. In my case, I have a beautiful ancient monitor, so I needed a USB-C hub with an HDMI connection, which also has USB ports for the keyboard and mouse. I just needed to plug them all and I was nice to go.

Saying this, I have a problem. For most parts, I had to use some services app versions such as Silk and Google Drive. This created some complications, mainly with the easy to share the slack setting and the Google Drive. In fact, this was less than my own advanced habits, rather than a major problem with Samsung Dex. I just imagine it will be easier in the morning, and that happened.

Setup was the last easy part of my day

Unfortunately, when I got to talk about using the phone for my work, I had more problems. Initially, there was no real problem, but the moment I dug my USB keyboard and mouse, I hit a real wall.

When the phone is to be used as a mouse, it is technically meaningful. Basically, you can use the entire screen, which is separated in four quadrant. You can move your finger and where you can please tap, and the screen can be divided so that you can use the keyboard as well.

However, when you try to use it as a mouse, the phone may really face the same way. So if the phone is facing differently, and you move your finger to the right, the cursor will go down instead. You just have a hint that you have small buttons on your side, it is easy to miss when you are looking at the big screen.

Once I detected the mouse, it was down to detect the keyboard and wow, what the keyboard suck. If you have never used the Samsung keyboard before, let me paint you a picture of how it looks like it. You have your basic QWERTY layout, but with a huge space in the middle that cuts the space bar in half. Then, below it, which includes all your quick navigation tools.

Now, despite being larger than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Galaxy Z Fold 6, this is not the keyboard you can use comfortably, unless you have a doll hands. There is no touch typing here. Instead, I found myself using two fingers slowly to suppress the keys like your tech lettuce.

Not only is it painful to use, but the placement of navigation buttons becomes a real nightmare. When talking about typing, I slowly inserted myself into the flow, just mistakenly brushing the home button and losing the keyboard. To say that it was angry is a small thing.

The battery clearly did not hear me say that I would use it for a day

Another problem that appeared soon, as well as how much the phone has a phone in this mode. Now, my USB hub has a charging port, but I noticed that my phone was constantly losing the battery, even when the charger hub was connected. Finally, I had to disconnect the phone permanently and charge it for a time, which took more morning than my morning.

Talking about the port, it has a slight problem where it is kept and what it means. In my experience using Z Fold 7, I found the best way to set it on the desk, which was in the form of L, as it allowed me to type on the maximum of the maximum hobby and hit the screen mouse section.

However, to ensure that the phone was balanced, I needed to keep the camera side up, and the aspect of the phone is also the place where the USB-C port is. Therefore, I had to choose between a wobli keyboard by placing a camera on the table, or the permanent risk of the phone’s tipping.

So, will I change my laptop?

The thing is: Using the Galaxy Z Fold 7 as a PC is completely possible with the Samsung Dex, as long as you have a keyboard and mouse. However, this is the place where my biggest problem with this idea presents its ugly head.

In fact, if I have to take a phone, keyboard and mouse, then I can use a laptop instead. However, they come with all these things as well as the browser version of the apps.

That way, I think this is a feature you will use to see YouTube on your big TV, which, be honest, can work best smart TV. It has its own purpose, but you should not buy one for that reason.

However, I am always happy to hear other people’s opinions, so tell me whether you are Stalort Dex user, or if you tested it and hated it.
