Apple will allow developers to try and persuade users not to cancel their digital subscriptions. The company is enhancing the purchase framework capabilities in the app with messaging messaging tools.
In simple terms, developers will be able to offer any user who tries to cancel subscriptions from the special menu within the Settings app. Documents for the so -called retention messaging API explain four ways for developers not to cancel users. Options are as follows:
- A text -based message
- Text -based message with a picture
- A switch plan message, which has a different membership status
- A promotional presenting message with discounts
This feature will make the developers easier to try and fight their users’ subscriptions. Whenever a user wants to cancel, they may be offered free extension or switch to a monthly annual subscription.
Messages can be updated in real time, as the API uses the developer pulling data before displaying a cancellation sheet. However, the developers cannot change the subscription screens user interface beyond providing easy image, text and button setting.

In this way, users will always have a significant “subscription” button, as well as “verification verification” and “do not cancel” options, which are currently available.
Apple’s new API Apple applies to membership of the app purchase system. Those settings are widely listed on the subscriptions page in the app. Not all developers use this system, and many major companies prefer to avoid the system and 30 % of the cut by Apple.
API is a pre -release feature, and developers have to register their interest in using it. However, Apple will likely open for all apps with subscriptions in the future.
If there is any surprise in this announcement, it is so long that Apple has been so long to make such features available to developers. The offer to maintain is something that a lot of subscription businesses already use to subscribe to their customers. Apple has always made it easy for users to cancel subscription, so having an option to revise them can be a happy change for developers.
Often they come up with an offer to maintain, so it can also be a welcome change for consumers. However, canceling the subscription means that you already know the service, so keeping it at a better price can be a better result by completely canceling it.
