Netflix has allegedly acknowledged using artificial intelligence (AI) videos for one of his science -fi shows. According to the report, Streaming Dev created a scene in the ‘The Ethenot’ series to display the falling building. The company revealed information during its Q2 2025 income call. This is the first time that Netflix acknowledged using AI for the preparation of its original shows, highlighting that video generation AI models are now reaching maturity where this technology can be widely used for film and show production.
Net Flix uses AI for Ethenot
According to The Verge, the company’s co -CEO, Ted Srendos, confessed to using AI for one of the actual show of the platform during the income call. The executive allegedly claimed that the use of AI for a single scene came much faster than using the traditional VFX. Although the co -CEO has said that he has avoided naming any AI model, he described the scene in detail where videos made from AI were used.
The latest post of the Ethenot company is the Apocolptic Science Fi mysterious thriller, and its first season (consisting of eight episodes) was released on the platform on April 30. In the series, one scenario shows that a building in Argentina’s Buenos Aires is entering it. Instead of traditionally adding its shooting and effects through the VFX, Netflix sought AI’s support and the whole scene was artificially created.
Sortonus allegedly told the shareholders, “It was completed 10 times faster than the VFX continuity was completed with traditional VFX tools and workflows. Also, its price is not possible for a show in this budget.”
The CEO of Netflix, allegedly, also highlighted that the company is now convinced of AI’s capabilities, and plans to reuse it in the future to make the creators “improve movies and series, not just cheap.”
Netflix is not the only production company that uses AI in filmmaking. In 2024, the Epic Drama Di -brutana used AI to improve the actors’ Hungary Dialogue. The AI was also used to bring some architecture designs. The film was later nominated for the best picture in Oscar 2025.
