- Samsung supply is considering converting to titanium from titanium to carbon fiber in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 due to chain concerns.
- The use of carbon fiber can also enable S pen to support the return, which is not compatible with titanium.
- Samsung is working on thin styls technology but has not confirmed whether the pen will return next year.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has not yet been sent, but Samsung already appears to be re -considering some important design elements for its 2026 follow -up. Although it may feel like a technical decision, there may be major implications to support the selection pen.
According to Coren Outlet ElecSamsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is considering two materials for back plate: titanium and carbon fiber reinforcement plastic (CFRP). The titanium is what you will find in the Z Fold 7 and Z Fold SE, they both dropped the support of the S pen in favor of a thin, sleek design. However, the source of metal can be difficult as the global supply comes from China, and the alleged Samsung is concerned about the risk of ongoing trade tensions.
The CFRP is less shiny, but Samsung used it precisely through Z Fold 6 in Zo Fold 3 as it worked well with the EMR digitizer layer required for the S pen input. And while Samsung’s latest foldable has completely abandoned stylus support, the company has not yet closed the door on this feature.
Last week, an executive in Samsung confirmed that the company is developing a thin and more modern S pen tech, and that if a new approach is ready and consumer demand is strong, stylus can re -consider support. A potential solution will copy Apple’s AES -based stylus input, which does not require any digitizer layer.
Whatever your thoughts about tariff tension, if they cause a pen withdrawal on the Galaxy Z Fold 8, a special all set of Samsung fan base will be happy.
