The famous gaming platform, Roblokes, has improved the way to handle players’ communication, especially for people under 18.
As described in a blog post, the company says it is turning “friends” across the platform into “contacts” and launching new tools to estimate the age of a player through video selfie. Verification of this age, for these 13 to 17, will unlock a feature called “Trusted Connections” that allows low -filtered text or sound chat. People who are not eligible to confirm their age from the selfie tool will have the option to confirm it with an ID or with the consent of parents in the future, but the company did not say when the option would be available.
The youngsters will be able to add only 13 to 18 years of age and older people as friends if they are eligible to access reliable contacts, and only if they know them in real life – as the QR code or contact importer tool has been confirmed – Roblox says.
Other changes include notifications, screentime and privacy management LO More tools, as well as adding additional additional tools for parents to spend money or spend time spending on the platform.
These changes are part of Roblox’s long -term effort to secure your platform for young players. Last year, Roblox added more than parental control and surveillance, as well as content labels in its virtual world. This platform suffers from examples of hunters and illegal gambling while targeting children.
How will the players be affected by these changes
For those who are 18 years of age or older, changes should be minimal, though it is possible that some consumers will be asked to confirm their age, even if they are older, then 13 to 17 age limit. Parents should have more options to monitor the use of their children’s platform.
Although some changes appear to occur immediately, such as the introduction of contacts, it may take longer to implement other features, including parents’ consent option for those from 13 to 17 to 17.
