Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cube Controller: A minute Review
After about 15 hours with the Nintendo Switch 2 game cube controller, I can safely recommend if you are looking for an authentic retro experience on the console. This is a pin faster, the original pad’s accurate entertainment, and thus it is ideal if you intend to dive into these classic game cubes games as part of your Nintendo Switch Online + Extension Pack membership.
This is a loyal revision, but that does not mean that the wonder of the purple color has not been modernized in some ways. You are getting wireless contacts here. Battery life also seems incredibly impressive. After the game of about 15 hours, its battery indicator on the ‘Controllers’ menu of Switch 2 shows almost HALF half full. That way, I guess you will have a 25-30 hour life before you need to recharge.
Nevertheless, ‘authentic’ does not necessarily mean ‘perfect’, and definitely has to make something else that I want to see, even if the purests cry for dirt. The controller’s DPPP is still far and away from its weak element, which is incredibly smaller and is quite suspicious for contact. And when I enjoy these pressure -related sensitive stimuli, they certainly feel complicated than today’s best Nintendo switch controllers.
There is only another real negative aspect to talk about it. The reason is that the switch 2 game cube controller is only available through Nintendo’s online store only, which requires a Nintendo account to buy login and products.
In the upper part of it, you will need a Nintendo Switch online subscription to be eligible for purchase. It will be a barrier to some people, but if you are planning to buy a controller for its desired purpose, then you are already likely to get Nintendo’s online service membership.
Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cub Controller Review: Price and Availability
- . 64.99 / £ 58.99 / AU $ 89.95
- Nintendo is specially available via the online store

The Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cub Controller released the same day like the Nintendo Switch 2 Console (June 5, 2025), and now. Available to buy in 64.99 / £ 58.99 / AU $ 89.95.
Although this Nintendo Switch is much better dealt with 2 Pro Controller (. 84.99 / £ 74.99 / AU $ 119.95), keep in mind that the use of the game cube pad is more limited, as it is mainly designed for the Switch 2 Game Cube Nintendo Classic Library.
As mentioned above, there are some hips to jump to buy the game cube controller for yourself. It is only available through Nintendo’s Online Store, which will make you need to buy a Nintendo account. In the upper part, Nintendo is restricting purchases to people who have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
Although this is a disturbing limit, it has some meaning. Switch 2 of the game cube titles can only be obtained via Nintendo Switch Online Extended Pack Tire. That way, if you are buying a controller for this, you will already have an online service membership.

Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cub Controller Review: Design and Features
After the Siga Dreams, Nintendo Game Cub Consoles was my childhood system of the sixth generation (yes, I’m old, quiet). I spent those days playing amazing titles of hundreds of hours Legend of Zelda: Wind Walker, Fantasy Star Online Episode 1 and 2, F. Zero GX, And Voice adventures 2 war. As a result, I am deeply familiar with the original game cube controller, and this is my favorite game pad all the time.
In my view, then, the switch 2 version of the game cube controller had a lot to survive. And I am glad to report that it is the same controller, though despite some modernity, making it more useful as a modern pad. In addition to clear wireless contact, it introduces home, screenshot, and game chat buttons, as well as a small ‘ZL’ button that works like left stimulus for regular switches and switch 2 games (in addition to accessing quick menu for the Game Cube Classic Library).
Otherwise, it is practically similar to the original controller, the wired port is converted to the USB-C port. Analog stick, C stick, DPP, and that the iconic-even Northodox face button is set in the same place where they should be, and they all feel very similar to this 2001 pad.
Nintendo has even found even small details. As the face buttons feel so loose in the places, not so much that they feel, but they can quite where they can rotate under your thumb. It is a strange feeling that I have always enjoyed. Elsewhere, the left analog stick has all the right shapes, which makes a tremendous feeling like the OG version. Don’t be afraid if you were after the truth, it Is A game through the cube controller and through it.

Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cub Controller Review: Performance
Keeping them all in mind, in terms of design, it should not be surprising that the switch 2 game cube controller now feels as good as he did with my big adult hands. Its curved design is also a blessing among contemporary controllers, and during the game, my hands still relax comfortably comfortably around his grip.
I mainly tested the switch 2 game cube controller with its relevant switch online game collection. At the time of writing, this means in a considerable extent in the gameplay F -Zero GX, Spirit Caliber 2, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Walker, And Super Mario strikers. Something Salt Dispaded Input Patients Windwark (Which is a problem with imitation, as I have experienced the same with Switch 2 Pro Controller), Game Cube Pad performed well through wireless play.
It is also worth noting that the controller is locally compatible with switch and switch 2 games. This means you can use it for the best 2 games of Nintendo Switch 2, including Mario Cart WorldFor, for, for, for,. Street Fighter 6For, for, for, for,. And Tears of Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. But that doesn’t mean I will recommend it.
Here are two layers of my argument. First and rather clearly that the game cube button is facing difficulties with the standard switch format. On the game cube controller, you have a button in the middle, in which B, X, and Y all rotate it. If you have died using a game cube controller for switch 2 games, you will need to rely on the game controller settings to make you more comfortable setting.
In addition, the pad triggers register the bumper input (L and R switch 2 Pro Controller, and Joey Kin 2), while the Z and ZL button are pre -determined. This mainly means that the placement has changed around, which is a bit more strange.

This is where my second point comes. The switch 2 does not currently support the mapping of the game cube controller button from the home dashboard, as it is for other official pads. This is a bit of a strange mistake, and which I hope will be a patch under the line. Finally, though, I am glad that Nintendo offers the game cube controller compatibility as at least one option.
There are other control issues, but these are at least heritage issues. Stimulations will definitely make a bit nasty for some people, and the DP is still very small, uneven and suspicious. Would I like to see some improvements in these areas? Certainly, but looking at my attachment to the original game cube controller, I also feel reluctant to introduce any changes from any kind of clean point of view.
Finally, the controller seriously affects the battery life circle. According to the Switch 2 Controller Menu, I tested the game cube controller for about 15 hours, and when I did not completely remove the tank, I used almost HALF half. Keeping in mind, I will evaluate the pad houses anywhere between 25-30 hours of battery life, which is the same as the Switch 2 Pro Controller.

Should I buy the Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cube Controller?
If buy it …
If not buy it …

How did I experience the Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cube Controller
- Tested for about 15 hours
- Game Cube Classic and Switch played a range of 2 games
- Switch 2 Pro Controller in terms of feeling, performance and battery life
I tested the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller for about 15 hours, mainly used it for my desired purpose to play with the Nintendo Switch Online Game Cube Library. I also mixed with some switch 2 games, including Mario Cart World, Street Fighter 6, And King’s Tears – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The results were recognized here, because the game cube controller button setting is not the best of the most modern titles.
I played primarily on my LG CX OLED TV, and compared its performance with the Switch 2 Pro Controller with the game cube games. Both are well suitable, though I was able to adapt to the button settings later to improve myself like titles control schemes. F Zero GX And Spirit Caliber 2. With the game cube controller, I didn’t have to worry about it because the controls are all maps according to the intention of all.
