Canon has released 20 cameras since launching RF Mount in 2018, but it had a difference in the major market: blogging. Now, the company has pledged that with the launch of the $ 700 R50 V, which aims to create the creators on the budget and to take Sony’s ZV-E10 II.
The R50 V has a 24-megapixel APS-C sensor like R50, but it includes 4K 60p video, C-Lig 3 for extra dynamic range, a live streaming button and a side tripod socket for vertical video. It is cheaper than $ 1,100 ZV-E10 II and even costs a slight less than the old ZV-E10. However, after some prolonged testing, I found that it has some important features compared to Sony rivals, especially those who make blogging easier for early people.

Design and handling
Like other blogging cameras, the R50V is also stripped down in terms of size and control. It is a polycarbonate body instead of metal, which reduces stiffness and weather -related protection but helps keep it only 323 grams. The grip is even smaller than the R50, so it is not ideal to use with large lenses.
An important feature disappears from the R50 is an electronic view Finder. This is the case with ZV-e10 II, but a deficiency can make it difficult to shoot in sunlight. In the upper part, the backpack is low and not particularly bright. However, it completely describes and the blogs’ LOL turns away.
The R50 V is designed to control through the touch screen, so it has less manual control than the other mirror model of the canon mirror. It contains up, rear and rear dialyals to set basic tasks like IRIS and shutter speed. However, you need to use your thumb to overcome both of them, which makes the operation a bit strange.
Front Rock is designed to control the zoom on auxiliary canine lenses like the new 14-30 mm F/4-6.4, which is STMPZ, which was released at the same time like this camera. It also has a direct series and color buttons dedicated to the creators, as well as a mode dial with six different video settings.

The menu system usually has a canon with color coded pages for each category (video settings, autofox and more). However, key settings can also be adjusted to the immediate (Q) menu when using the touch screen while blogging. The functions in this menu can certainly be re -programmed on your priorities.
The R50 V has both microphones and headphones with micro-hoods and USB-C ports. It uses a small EP-17 battery of canon, which provides an hour-long video shooting or 300 shots in charge, less than both ZV-E10 II (113 minutes and 600 shots). It has only one SD card slot, but fortunately it is a sharp UHS-II type. Finally, there is a very simple feature for content creators: a tripod socket to make the Solo Wilgers easier to shoot a vertical video.
Video
The video and blogging is the main power of R50 V compared to the R50. It can shoot both Super Simple 4K 30 FPS and 4K 60 FPS video, with C-Lig 3 and 10-bit standards. However, the 4K 60 FPS setting requires 1.56x crop, which reduces the quality as well as the Bokia. In contrast, Sony’s ZV-E10 II requires 1.1x crop for only 4K 60 FPS video.
Z50V also lacks physical stability. This means that the R50 V strictly relies on a reduction in optical lens shakes or electronic stability. To be fair, it can be expected at this price range and ZV-E10 II also loses physical stability. The electronic system does a good job of removing the gas from handheld video and can still be smooth if you try to move fluently, but if the movements are excessive, it can make the footage look soft. “Better” electronic mode, which applies a small crop, is designed to look like handheld shots “lock off” as if you are using a tripod.

Finding pin and product showcase type buttons are also significantly missing in the background compared to the ZV E10 II. This is very bad, as the creators often use these features to focus on objects or blur the background behind an article.
The rolling shutter distortion is significantly significant on the camera with a scan rate around 30 mm, compared to ZV-E10 II for only 16 mm. This means that suddenly a “jelo effect” video can result in a sudden pan or gelats. Meanwhile, video Autofocus is Rapid and Relaable, Even if your subscribe. AI -powered face and eyes detection has tightly locks, and they can track animals and vehicles reliably.
Canon took a page from Panasonic and FiFil with a color button adding to the R50 V. It lets you quickly choose shooting methods such as standard BT.709, C-LOG, HLG and PQ. Another sequence offers film looks with portraits, excellent detail, loyalty and monochrome. And the last “color filter” allows mode tinted video that contains shade like tail and peaches, though the results make me feel a bit pleasant.
With a built -in cooling fan, the R50V is mostly resistant to heat than most small cameras. When you make a standard 4K recording on 30 FPS, I could shoot up 60 minutes for 60 minutes straight for 60 minutes. This problem is not at 4K 60p or uses a lower portion of the sensor in this mode.

Canon R50 V review: an affordable blogging camera that does not measure its rivals
Overall, the quality of the video is a strong point, when using the 4K 30 FPS Overspring mode with faster detail. The colors are rich and accurate, and the skin’s heads are happy with the warm indicators for which the cannon is known. The 10-Bit C-Lag 3 footage maintains additional detail in shadow and prominent areas, which provides outstanding dynamic range for such cheap cameras. However, the 4K 60p video is quite soft, and 1080p 120 FPS ultra -salo -setting is lacking in sophistication despite HD standards. The low light capacity for an APS-C camera is average, which clearly shows that the ISO starts at 3,200 or 6,400. Beyond this, getting rid of the use of noise tools makes it difficult to interfere and difficult.
Photography
Although photography this is not a camera raison d’etreR50 V performs decent performance in this regard. It can shoot fast enough for a small camera, with an electronic shutter with a 15 -FPS burst or 12 FPS with a mechanical shutter. However, due to the small buffer, it cannot maintain the speed that has only 36 raw images.
Auto -Fox is once again a strong point, in which articles are easily tracked and keep the images fast. As the video, AI -powered face and eye detection is fast and reliable for people, animals and cars. There is a problem with rolling shutter photos because it is with the video, but since the R50 V has a mechanical first shutter, you just need electronic mode for photo when needed silence. Lack of stability in the body means that you will need stail stable hand to take sharp shots at a low speed of the shutter, or if you have a problem, you would like to buy optical stability lenses.
The image standard is like the R50 as it shares the same sensor. LI of ordinary shooting, I saw the colorful pictures that are bent on the hot side with the tones of the skin, as is common with the color of the canon. JPEGS maintains a good balance between speeding up and lack of noise, while raw files allow for a good quantity to adapt to room images. As the video, the low light performance is not surprising, so I will not go past the ISO 6,400 unless it is more dark to film the film.
Wrap
With 24 megapixel APS-C sensor, R50 V Square is against Sony’s ZV-E10 II (Steve Dent for Angelty)
Canon’s R50 V is a very good first attempt for Blogging Camera, targeting the mark in important areas of video quality and use. However, its rival, Sony’s ZV-A10 II, defeats it in almost every area, which offers better video quality, high photo resolution, sharp auto focus, smooth electronic stability and clean features on R50V-such as product showcase.
That said, Canon is targeting the buyer in the mind of the higher budget because the R50 V cost only $ 700 (only body) compared to $ 1,100 for ZV-E10 II. Volcaras limited to this budget will still get a good camera that easily defeats the smartphone if it is spoken of the final product. If you have an extra $ 400 to spend, though, I will instead recommend ZV-E10 II.
