Like any iOS update, iOS 26 promises some interesting addition to your current iPhone. But before you go away about the new abilities that are just an upgraded, make sure to check the fine print – because every iOS addition does not work on the iPhone.

Even if you’ve got an iPhone able to run iOS 26, all of these features are not working on your device. Some need specific hardware, either due to the requirements of the processor or their device depends on artificial intelligence.

    Look

Being fair, the more important changes started by iOS 26 will work well, no matter how much your iPhone is. The liquid glass interface introduced with this update will be visible on every iPhone that upgrades to iOS 26, and works on all compatible phones such as new games app, increasing messages and improving maps.

    You can like

But there are some notable iOS 26 additions that have more limited access. And in most cases, this is because they rely on Apple Intelligence, taking Apple’s AI, which means you will need the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max or any iPhone 16 models to get full benefits. (You can also choose the iPhone 17 models in the fall, as they will also support Apple Intelligence.)

This does not mean that you have to upgrade your phone right now and upgrade your phone – once it will be enough time to do the new model this fall and you will weigh a new device.

But if you are planning to try iOS 26 – either as part of the public beta that arrives in July or complete release in the fall – you should be aware of what your phone can feature and benefit from it. These are iOS 26 additions that have drawn my attention, which will only work on selected devices.

    Inclusive Power Mode

Each iPhone will continue to offer low power mode, which cuts the refreshes for background -run apps and the display of display display, all in the name of power protection. But if you have an Apple Intelligence iPhone, iOS 26 has introduced an adaptive power mode feature that aims to improve battery life.

Get quick access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, big deals and helpful points.

Apple has said that adaptive power mode will adjust to performance on your phone – adjusting the brightness of the screen, reducing more background activity, and usually allowing your iPhone to continue for longer between charges. This is a setting that you will enable, and when you are using your phone for hungry tasks, it seems to kick.

On the device is responsible for making these adjustments in AI power consumption-therefore the iPhone is required according to Apple Intelligence to get the benefits of adaptive power mode.

    Improvement in visual intelligence

It should not be traumatic that any new addition to visual intelligence requires the iPhone 15 Pro or after. Nevertheless, visual intelligence already worked on only selected devices – especially with iPhone 16 models and after the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max update iOS 18.4.

Nevertheless, it is capable of calling iOS 26’s visual intelligence as they are important instead.

Earlier, when you photograph posters and flyers with dates and times, Visual Intelligence relied on your iPhone camera to find information or create calendar entries.

In iOS 26, the same tools will be available for screenshots, which will allow you to find interesting things that you just come up with with a tap. You will also be able to automatically make calendar events through emails, websites and text messages through visual intelligence in iOS 26-but once again, when you have a recent iPhone.

    Directly translated

In addition to liquid glass, support for real -time translations feels like the most cleaned in iOS 26. The reason is that the phone touches several apps and activities on the phone, from phone calls to video chats, from text messages.

Direct translations are also to rely on the device AI, so you will need to work once again the iPhone 15 Pro or later.

Phones are not the only restriction of this iOS 26 feature. Direct translations will only offer help only for selected languages. Messages will work with easy Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. French, Portuguese and Spanish support will reflect the languages spoken in France, Brazil and Spain, respectively.

As far as phone and facetime apps, they will support a direct translation for English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.

    3D Photo Effects

Finally – an iOS 26 app that is not limited to just devices that support Apple Intelligence. However, if you want to take advantage of your locker screen photo 3D effect, the feature of the local scenes, you will need at least one iPhone 12.

This does not leave many iPhones in the cold. IPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max will not be able to highlight this 3D effect. I would assume that the iPhone SE (2020) would not be able to do so, as it has A13 bionic chip like these phones.

Local scenes are made on the same technology used to produce 3D effects in Apple’s vision, and you will be able to apply it to the photos in the photo app. Exterior. The restrictions of the same device also apply there.

    Tips for reminders

I use reminders every day to stay at the top of the tasks and to resonate with notifications when I had to take care of a job at a particular time. So naturally, any new feature that comes to this app will affect my interest.

The reminders are not getting any major changes with iOS 26, but it will have a significant ability – at least if you have a phone that can run Apple Intelligence. Apple’s on -device AI will be able to use safe emails, texts and other items on your device to suggest work, follow -up and grocery list items.

Say my wife sends me a message to take some bread at the store. iOS 26 reminders will be able to accept the request and suggest it in the grocery list that I keep in the app – provided I use the iPhone 15 Pro or later.

    Other restrictions of the feature

Some iOS 26 features are not just limited to new devices, but they have other restrictions that can affect your ability to use. The most common ban includes auxiliary languages.

Screening Tools is a huge market add to iOS 26, which aims to reduce the number of your answering roboces and spam texts that find their way to messages. In the phone app, the call screening will respond to the phone for you and find out why the person is calling, while the messages will filter the text with unknown seals in their separate tabs.

But these two features are only supporting English, Cantones, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese and Spanish.

Help this, from the addition of another phone that pings you when detects that you are about to prevent you, there are also language restrictions. It will work with English, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguz and Spanish.

The music app is finding the translation of the lyrics for selected songs. It will work with English to Chinese, English to Japanese, Korean to Chinese, English from Korean to Japanese from Japanese and Spanish to English. Meanwhile, a direct caption access tool works with Kentonia, English, French, Germany, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Chinese and Spanish. In particular, direct caption includes versions spoken in Canada and Mexico, respectively, French and Spanish support.

Other iOS 26 features are limited to certain countries. It is probably not surprising that the ability to create digital IDs with your American passport in the wallet will only be offered in the United States, but the features of the places you go where you go are starting in Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
