Snap has obtained a calendar app for high school and college students. The company did not disclose the terms of the deal, but said that nearly 30 of the Saturn’s full -time employees would join the SNAP as part of the acquisition.
It is unclear what Snap has planned for Saturn, but the company confirmed the mangdite that the calendar app will continue to serve as a stand line service. It also suggested that this acquisition could help Snap bring a calendar -based properties in Snap Chat.
A calendar app looks like a strange choice for SNAP, but there is a lot of overlap between users of both services. According to Snap, about 80 percent of US high school schools study in schools that support Saturn (its App Store Page says it is available in more than 17,000 high schools). According to Pew Research, SNAP is used by more than half of young people.
Saturn is more social than the common calendar app. It has a Snapchat -like design that allows adolescents to easily share and compare their schedules with friends. It also supports many high school students’ routines, such as block systems, circulatory calendars and extracurricular features. Saturn also has features for college students, though it seems that it is not widely used in old population data.
