- Login credentials by an outdoor IT partner Infoastler for Scania lost
- Hackers used a password to access Scania and steal files
- They sought money from the company, and subsequently presented the protected documents for sale
Swedish Automotive Manufacturer Scania confirmed a victim of a cybertack that saw it lost customer’s sensitive data.
Security researchers found a new thread on a Dark Web Forum, allegedly stolen a database from ‘Insurance.Cania.com’, which was being offered for sale to a special buyer for an unknown amount.
The advertisement published in both English and Russian states that “Hi Logo. We hacked a new target and sold the” insurance.Cania.com “completely connected. The full associated files are 34,000 and the first time the hack + will be only 1 hand sales.” “Something is connected with remarks (not for someone’s copy and scams for people).”

After the thread was published, Scania confirmed the authenticity of the claims, saying that it was violated as part of a supply chain invasion at the end of May 2025, which began with an external IT partner.
“We can confirm that a security incident has occurred in the application” Insurance.Cania.com, “said a spokeswoman for Scania, which is provided by an external IT partner.
“On May 28 and 29, a criminal used credentials for a legitimate outdoor user to access the system used for insurance purposes. Our current assumption is that the certificates used by the offender were leaked by Stellar Malware.”
“Using a compromised account, documents related to insurance claims were downloaded.”
Although the company did not specify what information was found in the stolen files, it is safe to understand that it is sensitive, possibly financially or medical. The number of victims is still unknown for now.
After stealing archives, the dangerous actor tried to incite Scania for money, demanded a number of occasions and ransom. Since it has offered a database for sale on the Dark Web, we can assume that the company refuses to offer generously.
