When you buy devices to set up your smart home, you think that after you buy and set up a product, it is the end. However, there are many hidden costs that can increase a major monthly bill, if you subscribe to a lot of services.

Here, we will show you five common hidden costs with smart homes, and how to avoid them.

    Security camera subscriptions

Some famous smart home devices are domestic security cameras and video indoor bulls. After smart lights and locks, all these viewing cameras help you keep tabs on your property, your front doors and your packages.

    You can like

However, with the majority of the best home security cameras you need to pay monthly membership to save the video. So, if you want to see who has come to your door, or if the animals are running in your back yard, you will need to spend a little extra each month.

Security camera storage subscriptions start at $ 3 per month for the same camera, but if you have numerous cameras on your property, they can grow faster.

However, some companies – especially EUFY – allow you to save the footage locally without paying purchase. Although the clear cost for cameras is slightly more expensive, you will save money for a long time.

    Professional security system

The best home security system allows you to monitor everything around your home. More than just cameras, these systems have a door and window sensor as well as motion detectors, so you will know if someone is trying to enter.

Get quick access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, big deals and helpful points.

But, if you want the authorities to respond without calling your home first, you will need to subscribe to a professional monitoring service, most of which costs $ 19 per month.

We are not saying that you should not be professionally monitoring, but we know it is a little investment.

    Router Security

One of the best Mash routers is an integral part of the smart home. You need good Wi -Fi coverage throughout the house so that all these devices can be reliably connected to the cloud.

In recent years, some of the router companies have begun offering subscription services to protect all your connected devices from viruses, data violations and much more.

These projects can also cost $ 100 every year, so they offer the best anti -virus programs that are able to compare their features, to see who fits your needs. Often, there is a good amount of overlap among services.

    Streaming Services

We may not think about the best streaming services as part of a smart home, but when using streaming stick or smart TV, it is all connected. And, if you are subscribing to multiple streaming services, they can increase the bills faster.

Every month, it is worth seeing what you are doing on the services you are doing, and to decide whether you cancel it or not. There is no feeling of paying for something you are not using.

You should also look for deals-around Black Friday and other events, many services will offer a one-year subscription rate of one year, which is very low.

Another way to save money is to look at different levels of subscription. Many services now have a premium degree, but then it is too little. You just have to sit through advertising.

    Product life

Like traditional devices in your home – think about light bulbs and refrigerators – smart home devices also have age, but the time frames may be different.

Let’s start with a smart light bulb. Although they use less energy and claim to be longer than incandescent bulbs, LED bulbs are still some new technology. As a result, they cannot last until the advertisement is given.

A major problem with smart home devices, though, is that at some point, they become obsolete as the technologies change, and companies that no longer support them.

Therefore, when a security camera you bought 10 years ago can still work well, but it can no longer get updated from the company, which is causing a high risk of hacking.

In other cases, a company can shut down the features of smart home products – or even worse, the company can completely get out of business.

Our advice: Look at Look to buy smart home devices from more well -established companies, but be prepared that you will eventually have to change things.
