Adjusting the settings in your operating system may be terrible if you do not play in the computer computer menus of entertainment, but it is really important to inform yourself what all the options are for your computer. You should know what they are and what they do – not just because it helps you protect you because you know how to drive and control all aspects of your machine, but also because if something should be wrong, you can guess where to go to do something about it.

Consider it this way: You will probably know where the electric breakers are for your home, okay? You may also know how to shut down the water in case of an emergency. And you may also know where fire extinguishers and first aid kits are located. It is not only easy, but also so important.

So, if you never said with the menu and does not know what a settings do, there is a good place to start here: make your computer more secure by understanding, adjusting and securing the following settings on your Windows 11 computer.

    You can like

    Discovery of the network

Network Discovery is a setting that allows your device to find other devices such as computers, smartphones, tablets or smart TVs that are on the same network – and allow them to ‘see’. It makes it easier to share files and use network devices, but if you connect with a non -confident network such as a public Wi -Fi network, it can leave you open for risks and unauthorized access.

Disable the feature Start Click Right. Go Settings > Network and Internet > Modern network settings > Advanced sharing settings. To close both public and private network sections, you should be able to togel a button with the “network discovery”. Other devices on the network can no longer try to connect or detect you.

Also applies to the same principles File and printer sharing Sorting directly down the network: For the same reasons, it is also a risk of security, and you should close it when you are in the menu.

    Clipboard date

The things you copy and paste, including text or photos, are saved in the history of your computer clipboard. Even then, when you copied and pasted other items then. This means that you can easily reach the things you have previously trimmed, which is easy, but it also means that if you often use this feature or if you know that you are dealing with sensitive or personal information, how should you clear this date.

Get quick access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, big deals and helpful points.

By turning the clipboard date can prevent any of these sensitive data from accessing or storage by actors or anyone who has accessed unauthorized access to your computer. Start with the right click Start Button, then Settings > System > Clipboard And Toggle clipboard date. Copped items are no longer secure (which you must keep in mind to find out).

    Background apps

Background apps are both resources and potentially confidential issues because they track things you don’t want them. You can fix it but the good news and bad news: The good news is that you can choose which apps in the background to run, the bad news is that you have to closely shut down that you don’t want to run in the background.

To close background apps, click Right StartThen yes you guessed it, Settings Once again Apps > Install apps And select which app for which app do you want to oust the permissions. Click on three horizontal dots ‘To accessAdvanced options‘Menu and choose’Never‘Under Under’Permission of background apps. ‘That app will no longer be able to run in the background, and if you change your mind, you can always togel it.

    Remote aid/desktop

The purpose of both remote aid and remote desktop is to allow you (or someone else) to access your computer from somewhere else. In the case of remote access, it allows you to either get or provide aid from far away, but it can be exploited by actors or scammers in the risk of having unauthorized access to your system and your private data. Similarly, the remote desktop allows you to get your Windows PC from another device or location that makes you easier to access your files or work far, but it has the same security risks.

To close the remote aid, click right StartThen Settings > System > About And click ‘Modern system settings. ‘Choose’Smooth‘I tab Features the system Window and Allow non -check remote relief contacts Then approve the change. To disable the remote desktop, right click StartThen Settings > System > Remote desktop And Toggle off and then Confirm.

Remember, now when you know where these controls are, you can turn them away whenever you need them.

To be linked to a network automatically

Windows remembers, and saves, which you connect, and when you are in the same place, it will automatically re -contact. It’s easy if you are going back and forth between work and home – reliable safe networks – but if you regularly connect with government networks, it may be compromised. Here is a way to prevent Windows from re -connecting old networks.

Click right StartThen Settings > Network and Internet > Wi-fi > Manage known networks. You should see a list of networks connected to your computer in the past. Now you can choose those you don’t want to contact automatically in any way and Automatically non -check the connect when being in the range box.
