Although it is more a dream than a clear stop on Apple’s product roadmap, the company’s updates at Macos Tahao 26 present new evidence that Apple can one day sell Max with cellular contact. Certainly, the biggest route to the WWDBC 2025 would probably be the new liquid glass design language, which the company is spraying on all its operating systems, but based on the addition of the phone app in Macos, Apple’s laptops and phones are changing in multiple ways.
The new phone app, which connects recent phone calls, favorite contacts and voice mails in an interface, will offer the same features in both iOS and MacOS. This is the first for Apple’s desktop operating system, which contains a FaceTime app, but otherwise interacts with phone calls through mainly continuous features. Currently, iPhone calls can be released and answered on Mac, and you can call from the FaceTime app, but it is far from intuitive. It should be converted to Macos 26. The phone app allows you to call, listen to voice miles and even easily use as an Assist as you will easily do on the iPhone.

Each year Apple bows down its platforms together, such as letting you access your iPhone with an iPhone mirror from your desktop or use your iPhone as a webcam with a continuous camera. But porting direct apps directly from the iPhone feels like a more important step. On the iPad, which is sold in Wi -Fi and cellular structures, is understood by adding the phone app (as with Apple iPados 26). Both iPhone and iPad software and hardware are similar. Mac doesn’t – at least, not yet.
In December 2024, BloombergMark Gorman reports that Apple is “investigating the idea of a cellular contact in Mac.” Apple has been trying to get away from relying on Qualcomo’s cellular modem for years. The company bought the Intel’s smartphone modem team in pursuit of the idea in 2019, and earlier this year’s iPhone 16E, its first device, with the first device, with the Apple C1 modem earlier this year. Cellular Mac looks like a great opportunity to test the future version of this modem, C2 or C3.
Even despite the better multi -tasking, there are still many tasks that are easier on Mac than an iPad. A cellular Mac can allow you to upload a professional modified video in the field, or to communicate with your team without a teacher at Wi -Fi hotspot. Both are possible on one member, but will feel more natural on Mac.
Gorman suggests that the company will not try to bring its customs modem in addition to the iPhone by 2026 initially by 2026, but Apple can still lay the foundation from a software point of view. Max already uses Apple’s customs chips, and will soon display software that is similar to the iPhone. What is missing is a modem that can connect with cellular networks.
