- Retrod has just announced the dual screen aid on its famous retro gaming handhelds.
- This can make Nintendo DS, 3DS, and even the Wii U games more respected.
- The company has not yet announced pricing or availability.
Retro gaming handheld maker Retrod spent most of this week to tease the double screen device, which was finally revealed this morning. Instead of a new tool in its growing lineup, it is a accessories that may be linked to some of its famous handhelds.
Properly designated dual screen aid is a large screen below the clip. When a gaming handheld is connected, it produces a clam shell form factor like the LG V60 or Microsoft level pair. Retrod has not shared more than the aforementioned picture, but a representative has confirmed on the detacked that it is an OLED panel.
It is compatible with several flagship handhelds of the retrude, which includes retroid pockets 5, GB Money, and GB 4 Pro. However, it is not compatible with any of the recent releases, flip the pocket 2 or classic. Given the form factors of these devices, this is not surprising.
Adding the second screen may seem a bit mournful, but it does a great job for Nintendo DS, 3DS, and even Wii U games. Popular DS and 3DS emulators already support the gameplay on two screens, though the support of the Wii U is still lacking.
The second screen is a game changer for Nintendo DS and 3 DS Emotion.
It is far from the first tool of its kind. There was an optional second screen in the above LG V60, but the ROG Twin View Dock’s accessories for the first three ROG phones were very similar, which had a platform and clamp to hold the phone. DNA Mobile Gaming also recently launched an Indigo campaign for the DNA duo, another similar device is a high price tag.
Retrod has not yet announced pricing or availability for dual screen aid, so be compatible for more details in the coming weeks.
