Samsung’s HW-S60D can be one of the best sound bar… but only if you have Samsung TV. Although the S60D has a range of premium properties that makes its 9 349 MSRP very attractive, the features are limited to Samsung TV.
Features such as wireless dolby Atmos and active voice analysts are unfortunately available only on synchronized Samsung TV, so I was unable to experience them during my panasonic testing.
This does not mean that S60D is a bad sound-if you have found Samsung TV, it can be a great way to upgrade with a built-in TV speaker at a relatively affordable price. However, if you have another brand (or an old Samsung model), you will be better than anything else. Don’t worry, I will pass through all the details in my Samsung HW-S60D sound bar review.

Samsung S60D Sound Bar Overview: Price and Availability
The Samsung S 60D on Amazon is $ 347, but its MSRP on Samsung US is $ 349.
S60D has a 9359 RRP in the UK but is available at the Amazon UK in only 9 279. £ 279 is a very good price for this sound bar. I think £ 359 is very standing, considering that you can get the Polk Sg S4 Sound Bar and Sub -Woofer in just 9 329 (a 3.1.2 channel setup contrary to S60D 5.0).

If you are looking for your first home setup in the home theater, I will wholeheartedly recommend the Polk Suga S4. It only got a sub -woofer and sound bar in 9 399. Signal S4 is recommended for me to go, as it is relatively affordable and look as good as some of the $ 500+ options.
Samsung S60D Sound Bar Overview: Design and Control
- Every other sound bar looks like
- Beautiful remote control with easy -to -use buttons
- Only control
In fact, the appearance of the S60D doesn’t really say that much about. It looks like a sound bar. They all look alike. Still, there is nothing naturally Minus About this – there is a style, and it works. S60D is quite non -controversial, but it is deeper than S801D Little 1.5 inches depth. If you need it is not a Super Slim Sound Bar – Polk Signal S4 I praised earlier. Your help can only help you only 2.4 inches depth there.

Although the S60D is unstable in appearance, it is very easy to establish. I just had to plug in it and contact my Panasonic MZ1500 4K OLED HDMI cable and was ready to go.
I like the buttons on time: volume, mic, and on/off button. You do not have to use them, though: S60D comes with a beautiful remote control that has different features, including channel levels and listening methods. Samsung remote bosing is much better than a remote, which I miss features.
Samsung S60D Sound Bar Review: App
- Samsung’s smart items app
- EQS and listening methods is very easy to overcome
- Smooth Bluetooth connection
Like other Samsung sound bars, the S60D uses the smart commodity app. This is one of the best smart home apps I’ve ever used. I am already familiar with because I own the Samsung washing machine, and I can’t lie – it was nice to see my virtual home filling with more products. You can name each product in the name of your choice (Sound Bar Mac Sound Barfis, Anyone?).
As you can see, the smart items app has a limit of playback methods. I noticed that DTS Virtual X made a great voice in a range of films and TV shows. Even you can increase the center and around the channel speaker to imitate the real surrounding sound (but obviously this is not ‘true’ because there is no dolby atoms on this sound bar, and there are not enough channels).
Samsung S60D Sound Bar Overview: Features
- Flagship features are limited to Samsung TV
- Sound methods include imitation dolby Atmosis
- Some dialogue may benefit from EQS
As the Samsung S801D Ultra Slim Sound Bar I have recently tested, the flagship features of the S60D are limited to Samsung TV. Since I was testing our Panasonic testing on TV, unfortunately, these features were lost to me. I think this is a fair criticism, because not everyone has Samsung TV, so customers of this sound bar are practically restricted to the loyalists of Samsung.
It is a shame that I couldn’t experience ‘wireless dolby Atmos’ because it was the mood that I was most excited about. However, the DTS Virtual X listening mode made a brave effort to make the Dolby Atmos experience. S60D claims that it contains dolbby atomosis, but it doesn’t Really. The speakers of the up -shooting channel do not perform enough to produce a deep experience, and the wireless dolby atmos is limited to Samsung TV, as I just mentioned.

Of course you can still use it (and enjoy it, as I did), but it is a shame that these great features are banned. I am sure the room calibration feature, Space Fit Sound Pro, a Treaty works. I have not yet had the opportunity to experience it in all the glory.
There is still a range of sound methods, though ‘standard’, ‘game’, ‘music’ and ‘DTS Virtual X’. I noticed that DTS Virtual X was great to deceive my mind in thinking that I was listening to the true Dolby Atmos, because I would enter. When I watched the movies with this sound bar, I realized it as if I had a complete surroundings.
However, I think the S60D can benefit from the sound mode that increases the dialogue. There were a few moments in ‘a complete unknown’ where I couldn’t hear anything. This is definitely to do with acting and voice mixing (not S60d Completely Guilty), but if you are already struggling with a hearing, it’s a matter of note.
Samsung S60D Sound Bar Overview: Sound quality
- Makrooh dialogue in some movies
- Surprisingly for the 5.0 channel sound bar
- Good sound sound quality, but not mind -making
As I have examined all sound bars, I watched different movies and TV shows, and listened to music. I saw ‘Top Gun: Maurk’, ‘Wild Robot’, 4K UHD Blue Ray ‘A Complete Unknown’, ‘Stranger Things’ on Netflix, and Cuboos. Before we start, a word of warning: Do not use ‘standard’ audio mode, because it’s really tonney. Like, Really Tinni. Just go to DTS Virtual X immediately.
Movies
As usual, I saw ‘Top Gun: Maurock’ on 4K Blue Ray. To see how much it may be, I prepared the channel speaker to try dolby Atmos. However, he did not really improve the voice experience nearby. Since this sound bar does not have a voice nearby, I was not expecting that its truth would be imitated by 360 ° audio.
The sound of high frequency, such as metal clinicing and juice OP Yu -Swing Basi was slightly lost from the sound track. The jet engine controlled these small sound effects – I would say that this particular top gun was compared to the audio Bose Smart Sound Bar (9 499). The high parts of the sound track fell slightly flat, but it easily overlooked. This is good, but not mind -making.
Next, I saw ‘a complete unknown’. The song was nice, but the sounds didn’t have much explanation. The scenes of the dialogue showed a bit more power through the sound track. I thought that a semi -blow dialogue could be a problem, but I was able to hear it at Samsung S801D. Also, I feel like many films nowadays make a quiet speech. Samsung 60D has a lack of AI voice enhancement tech, which I have seen on other sound bars, such as 3 ‘Voice Adjistas’ methods of Polk Suga S4.

Samsung Does Keep an Income Sound Mode of Improved Audio, but, once again, it is limited to Samsung TV, which is a great disappointment.
Last, I saw ‘The Wild Robot’. There is a special scene that is perfect for the deep audio, where the role of laughter is swimming for the first time. I always use this scene to test sound bars – the sound mixing here is excellent. Apparently sprinkle at 360 °, wings stir, and sufficient sounds of underwater bubbles.
Although the S60D does not have a dolby atomosis, the swimming scene seemed to be deep and wide. I felt like I could be submerged in water myself. However, it is worth noting that there was no water sound As if Samsung D801D also clean on ultra slim sound bar.
Television
I saw TV testing, I saw ‘strangers’. Once again, some dialogue was slightly calm, mostly David Harbor, like a Groofer actor, but I could clearly hear all the children’s speeches. In some scenes, I felt a little overwhelmed. The dialogue was still full at the same time. However, in general, the audio was good. Not the best, but the good, and the way, can be a better way than a TV speaker.
In this scene where Will Will is hidden from the monster, I felt in fear of it, and I could hear the laughter light bulb and its sharp breath. It was only in the high school scenes that the hard noise made the dialogue a bit.
The ‘music’ format increased the dialogue a bit, but it lost some of the deep experience of DTS Virtual X -mode. This is the toss -up: a clear dialogue, or more immersion around? I settled for a voice nearby.
Music
Just like the Samsung S801D sound bar, it was just fine to listen to music on the S60D sound bar. It’s not surprising, and it will not really affect anyone about music. But is this trick? Certainly, it’s better than Alexa or Google Home, but if you want a good speaker you will need to buy The speaker (Or two)
I heard ‘let’ happen through Tim Impala. Although Santh Mids and voices were clear and powerful, both collisions and bosses were extremely lacking and disappointing. Next, I listened to ‘Crayling Lisa Smile’ through Wolf Alice, in hope of getting something, Omph. Heavy, the chorus course was loud and efficient, but once again, it was a tonney instead. Nevertheless, I had a good time to listen to music on this sound bar, but the first thing to reach for the party would not be.
Samsung S60D Sound Bar Review: Decision
If you have found the Samsung TV, you will have a better experience with me. However, the Samsung is able to criticize the Environmental System to prevent the best features from third -party TV. Panasonic, Sony, TCL, and LGTVs are still incredibly popular in the US and UK, and it’s a good opportunity that you Do not Keep Samsung TV.
So, if you have found the Samsung TV, of course, it may be a great sound bar – I can’t check any of its flagship features. But if you have another brand, it’s just a good sound bar. I think you can contract a much better deal with the Polk Sugar S4 (9 399, 5.0 for 5.0 setup for the S4 (3.1.2 channel).
