Apple executives always Explain the new hardware and software as the “best” or “biggest” so far, but delivery does not usually stay up to the hype (see last year’s iPad). However, iOS 18 and IPados 18 may deserve some of these attributes. The latest version of the operating system has a usual degree of improvement of quality of life throughout the year, but Apple Intelligence steals in light.
This is the implementation of Apple’s artificial intelligence -driven tasks that have been spreading through the tech industry for the past few years. Even Siri got upgraded, though we are still waiting for many promised features. Here are all the new iOS 18 and IPADOS 18 features, how to download the current version, and what you will experience with Apple Intelligence.

Does your iPhone or iPad compatibility?
Good news! Every iPhone that was able to install iOS 17 can run iOS 18. Apple did not drop the iPhone from the list of auxiliary devices. If you have iPhone XR and iPhone XS from 2018 or even new (including other and third -generation iPhone SE), you can download and run iOS 18. If you are not sure which model you have, go to the settings app, tap. General > About And look Name of the model. This does not mean that every feature is available, as some need modern processors. (For example, Apple is intelligence Special for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Model; More on it below.)
This iPad is slightly complicated, as the name scheme depends on the hardware breed rather than the names of the specific device. Here are the generations that support iPados 18 (unlike iPhones, some iPads no longer cooperate). You can learn which model you have by following the directions here.
- IPad: Seventh general and later
- IPad Money: 5th General and later
- IPad Air: The third general and later (including M2 and M3)

Before installing a new operating system, i Extremely Recommend you to backup your devices. You can do this work through the cloud SettingsTap on your name in the upper part, and select icloud. Then, tap I -cloud backupTogil it, and tap Backup now To start a new backup. On the previous iCloud page, you also have the option to togel some apps that you don’t want to add to the backup. Once you backed up, you are ready to install iOS 18. Since this is a heavy update, you should plug your devices into the charger and make sure they are connected to Wi -Fi before the update starts. Go now Settings> Normal> Software Update. You will see the option to download the update. Tap Download and install And, when downloads, tap Install now To start update. You will know that the update is completed when your device resumes.
New iOS/IPados 18 versions updates
All high features are highlighted below in iOS and iPados 18, but Apple continues to release additional updates throughout the year. These include new features, including launch, bug fixes, and security patch at the time of security. To update your iPhone, go Settings > General > Software update And follow the instructions.

iOS/ipados 18.3: This update includes better notification summary, upgrade to visual intelligence for iPhone 16 models, and a minor feature included in the calculator app. Apple Intelligence is now active as default (though you can close it).
iOS/ipados 18.2: This update made genocide, image playground, image wand, chatigpt, visual intelligence, visual intelligence, air tag joint tracking, new features of my, new mail app, and new settings for camera control. Also, with the ability to write messages, writing tools also get a lift from Chat GPT. No longer need to be included in a weightlist to take advantage of Apple Intelligence.
iOS/ipados 18.1: Apple formally released Apple Intelligence in this version. Actually, you had to go Join Settings> Apple Intelligence and Siri> Weightlist To sign up. It took a few hours in the waiting list. Apple said it was to ensure that the server has a lot of potential. Apple Intelligence launches with the following smart features: Clear in writing tools, memory movies and Apple images, preferred messages in mail, smart response in messages, summary for duplication and call recording in notification, notification summary, and new reduction obstacles.

Every major tech company has connected artificial intelligence to its hardware and software, from Google and Samsung to Microsoft. Apple Intelligence is the Apple version, and this is the term you will know that the company throws the company over the next few years. It strengthens many new AI features in its devices.
It is powered by Apple’s large language models (according to ACS’s Ina Freud, partially trained by public web data). Only your inquiry data is sent to these servers, and the data is used only for your requests and is never stored.

Before you get very passionate, Apple intelligence is not available for each device that supports iOS 18. It is only supported by selected processors (and languages).

Through Apple’s entire hardware and software, you will find new tools in writing that attract the power of Generative AI to help you write. This includes rewriting, which can help convert your text tone more friendly or more professional (such as in email) and proof reader, which is rarely describes. You can also summarize the selected text with a tap.
This is beyond text -based improvement. It also strengthens preferred notifications, which appear in the upper part of your notification list and summarize it so that you get a more digestive summary at a glance. You can on the feature Settings> notifications> Notifications prefer. Similarly, the mail app offers preferred messages, which means that the main emails will swim in the upper part of your inbox. You can also get the summary of long emails, and a smart response function allows you to respond quickly to the emails (even answers to numerous questions in an email), not available in Gmail.
However, for now, Apple has stopped the notification summary for news apps after numerous examples, where the feature has failed to accurately summarize articles. The notifications by Apple Intelligence will now appear as a text.

Note, voice memo, and in the phone app, you can hit the record button (yes, even on call) to get audio recording with the transcript, and Apple Intelligence can summarize this transcript. Apple says in the states that need the consent of two parties for recording, the person at the other end of the line will be informed that the call is being recorded.
Finally, there is a new focus mode that reduces the obstacles that can understand your personal context, so when it hides the incoming things that can engage you, it knows enough about what is going on to allow a text to come from your nanny.
