Texas could become the next US state that introduced the law with social media platforms. A Texas bill, which will recently banned the use of social media for someone under 18, has recently gone to the Senate Committee in the past and needs to vote before the Texas State Senate. The bill is until the state legislation meeting ends on June 2, with almost a week left to approval by both the Senate and the Governor.

Earlier this year, the bill approved the House Committee phase and later voted in favor of the state’s House of Representatives. If the law is made, this bill will force social media platforms to confirm the age of setting up any account, such as how Texas legislates that websites need pornographic websites to enforce the age verification system. In the upper part, Texas’s social media ban has suggested parents to delete their child’s social media account, which facilitates the platforms to comply with a 10 -day request or a fine of the state’s attorney general.

Texas is not the only governing body that is interested in limiting access to social media. Last year, Florida’s governor, Ron Detentis, signed a bill in the law that banned anyone under the age of 14 from using social media and requires 14- and 15-year-old children to get a parent’s consent to create an account or use an existing account. In particular, Texas’s proposed law is much tougher than that.

On a large scale, the US Senate introduced a bill to ban a social media platform for a person under the age of 13 in April 2024. After being trapped in the committee’s phase, Senators Brian Scotts (D Hawaii) and Ted Cruise (R-Texas) recently made comments indicating that a possible attempt to approve it was indicated.
