Ubisoft’s flagship dance party has always been a big problem Since the series, it has jumped to modern platforms. Without the motion-sensing capabilities of the Kinect, Wii Remote, or PlayStation Move controller, it’s just a pain to control.

    Review the review information

    Platform reviewed: PS5
Available: PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch
    Release Date: October 14, 2025

Sure, those playing on the Nintendo Switch benefited from the option of using a single Joy-Con in one hand, but if you were on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X and Series S, you had to rely on awkwardly waving your phone around with the Just Dance Controller mobile app on the screen. The results weren’t particularly accurate or reliable, making the pursuit of high scores even more awkward.

with the Just Dance 2026 EditionHowever, it feels like the series has found its footing once again. This annual expansion introduces camera scoring that lets you easily present your phone to record your actions, and it’s a revelation.

Combine this awesome feature with an incredibly diverse song selection that includes some of the most visually stunning music videos yet, heaps of content, and a neat new mode, and you have the best episode in years.

    Break it up

If you have played Just dance The game before, then you will know the main thrust here.

You pick a song from a selection and a stylized music video starts on the screen. Your goal is simple, match the moves of the on-screen dancers as closely as possible – scoring points for each successful move. Your score is then added to a leaderboard, which is measured against your previous efforts, or those of other players if you prefer. It’s a simple but effective formula, especially when you factor in the countless cosmetic unlocks used to target different targets and decorate your online profile.

Well-implemented local co-op makes it a great choice for keeping parties alive for four friends, while solo players can use the on-screen calorie counter to turn their dancing into a workout. These are not entirely new features Just Dance 2026 Edition This is the fourth entry since the series transitioned to a more direct-to-service model, releasing as sweet updates as well as song packs rather than entirely new games, but there’s still plenty that’s new and exciting here for fans to come back to enjoy.

The big new addition is the camera scoring system, which has been added to the existing Just Dance Controller mobile app. Whenever you start a sync song you are asked if you want to play with Old Motion Scoring, or Camera Scoring. If you choose camera scoring, you’re instructed to prepare your phone on a surface a few meters away from your playing area and position yourself with the screen closed.

I usually play in a very compact area around my desk, so I was a little skeptical that I would have enough room but I was thankfully proven wrong. Acting on the phone on my bookshelf, it immediately hit me. Find out and never lose track of where I’ve been. It’s freeing to play without the weight of the phone in your hand and makes the choreography so much easier to follow. It’s finally a thing of the past to worry about accidentally tossing your precious tool out the window every time you switch arms.

Better, if you already own one Just dance the 2025 edition You’ll be able to play all of these songs with this new control mode, giving you a great excuse to revisit them. The only slight drawback here is that you can only use camera scoring when you’re playing alone. It probably is. There is some technical limitation and not a huge deal breaker, but it’s worth keeping in mind if you were only planning to pick up the game for co-op play.

Keeping your phone steady can also be a little tricky. I handled it reliably with a few books, but if you plan to set it up directly in front of your screen you’ll want to invest in a cheap phone stand.

    The backing track

This will not be new Just dance edition without a heap of fresh songs to play, and this year’s entry doesn’t disappoint. Your enjoyment of any lineup always comes down to personal preference, but I found the 40 or so tracks this year to be surprisingly varied.

Where previous years have been dominated by one or two major artists or themes, 2026 edition Like recent hits, everything is Chappell Rowan’s ‘Good Luck, Baby’. And Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Wings’ to long-awaited party titans like Smash Mouth’s ‘All Star’.

K-pop fans can feast on Baby Monster’s ‘Drip’ while TechTook addicts will find plenty of fun with viral sensations like Deutsche’s ‘Anxiety’. Just dance The titles also feature their own original songs that boil down to generic pop with slightly cringeworthy tunes for the last few episodes. However one of this year’s, Katsi ‘Sokoso’, is really catchy with an easy to learn but hard to master dance that makes you want to hop on the screen.

    The best bit

It’s hard to narrow down a favorite aesthetic Just Dance 2026 EditionThere’s a strong selection of music videos, but the bright primary colors of ‘Sokoso’ in particular look great on a big screen.

Each track is accompanied by a beautiful music video that all stand out as the most catchy and complex yet in the series. They look amazing with colorful visuals and a wide range of themes. Some even deviate from the traditional Just dance Aesthetic in innovative and interesting ways. Enter this year’s indispensable children’s song, a blues-inspired medley that’s just as animated as the hit children’s TV show or the creepy claymation style of ‘Born to Live (Remastered Version)’.

Some songs also include alternate versions, whether they feature relaxed drags or intense sports routines designed to test your fitness.

    look

If all this somehow isn’t enough, you can pick up the previous one and add it to your library Edition Subscribe to Just Dance Plus to stream hundreds and hundreds of songs from across releases (which are now available pretty cheap) or series.

All versions of Just Dance 2026 Edition Add memberships of different lengths (which you can activate at any time from the game menu) and only add to it throughout the year. Costs £24.99 / £19.99 – a very reasonable price for what you get.

Personal highlights for me include the energetic ‘Love Ward’ Just Dance 2018 And absolutely ridiculous angry birds ‘Balkan Blast Remix’. The only thing that could possibly make it better would be if some of the best tracks from the more obscure entries were eliminated.

Just dance Games rarely ship without some sort of new mod, and Just Dance 2026 Edition There is no exception. This year you get a new co-op party mode centered around a mad scientist’s lab. This lets you play one of your own songs in short bursts with weird effects on top.

This could include an animated dinosaur that appears on screen and prompts your dancer to clap their hands at the sight.

The effects themselves are entertaining but not particularly game-changing, despite the fact that the mod can pull from your entire song library. If you’re playing with a Just Dance Plus subscription, then there’s a strong chance you’ll find something you’ve never played before, forcing you to adapt not only to special challenges, but to an unfamiliar routine.

It’s a great way to find new songs to play, and I’ve picked up some new favorites that would have otherwise been completely overlooked given the sheer size of the roster.

It also helps avoid the struggle when you join friends, which makes for a much more seamless experience and helps everyone jump straight into the dance instead of wandering through menus.

I can’t think of anything else you could want from a dance party game.

Should I play Just Dance 2026 Edition?

    If you play it…

    If you don’t play it…

    Accessible features

Unfortunately there is no dedicated accessibility menu Just Dance 2026 Edition. The game supports scoring by holding your phone in your hands or using its camera, but each method requires a lot of movement throughout your body. The user interface can be tweaked somewhat, for example by disabling visual score feedback or song lyrics.

How I reviewed Just Dance 2026 Edition

I played for about 10 hours Just Dance 2026 Edition On PlayStation 5. For control, I relied on my Porsche Design Honor Magic 7 RSR Android phone using the official Just Dance Controller mobile app.

During that time, I played songs that appealed to me from the overall lineup, chasing high scores in both motion control and camera control modes. I have compared my experience with my previous testing Just dance Including games on a wide range of platforms Just Dance VR.
