Google Android XR can’t work too much … yet. In Google I/O 2025, I wear new glasses and try some important features – three features are exactly fine – and then my time is over. These Android XR glasses are not the future, but I can definitely see the future through them, and the ban on my metaphine smart glasses I did not match anything.

The Android XR glasses I tried had the same display, and it did not fill the entire lens. The glasses are offered in front of my vision on a small frame that was hidden unless it is filled with material.

To start, a small digital watch showed me time and local temperature, information made from my phone. It was so small and unpredictable that I could imagine that it should be allowed to remain active in its circle.

The first feature I tried was Google Gemini, which is making its way to each device to touch Google. Gemini on Android XR prototype glasses is already more developed than you may have tested on your smartphone.

I approached a wall painting and told Gemini to tell me about it. He described the pointalist artwork and the artist. I said, “I want to see this art very closely and I asked for suggestions to consider interesting aspects.” He offered me suggestions about the view and the use of artist’s color.

The conversation was very natural. For Gemini, Google’s latest voice models sound like a real human. When someone else was talking to me, the glass also did a good job in stopping Gemini. There was no longer delay or disappointment. When I asked Gemini to resume, he said ‘no problem’ and started quickly.

This is a huge thing! The response to smart glasses is a matriculation that I have not considered before, but it makes a difference. The ban on my meta -ray is an AI agent in smart glasses that can see through the camera, but it works very slowly. It first answers slowly, and then it takes a long time to answer the question. On Android XR, Google’s Gemini was very fast and it felt more natural.

Google Maps on Android XR wasn’t like any Google Maps I have seen

Then I tried Google Maps on Android XR Protiepe. I did not find a big map to dominate my thoughts. Instead, I found a simple direction with an arrow that told me to turn right in half a mile. The best part of the entire XR Demo was when I turned my head as soon as I changed the mark.

If I looked straight down on the ground, I could see a circular map from Google showing an arrow showing me where I am and where I should go. The map went easily when I turned to circles to get my bearings. It was not a huge map – about the size of a large cookie (or biscuit for friends in the UK) in my view field.

When I raised my head, the cookie map moved upwards. Android XR glasses simply do not map in front of my face. The map is an item in space. It is a circle that remains parallel to the floor. If I look upright, I can see the whole map. When I raise my head upwards, the map increases and I see it from the angle angle because it lifts it higher and higher than my viewing field.

When I look straight forward, the map has disappeared completely and has been replaced by instructions and arrows. This is a very natural way to seek refreshments on my way. Instead of opening and bending my phone, I just look at my feet and Android XR shows me where they should point.

Showing colorful display with a picture

The last demo I saw was an easy picture using a camera on Android XR glasses. After taking the shot, I got a small display preview in front of me. It was about 80 80 % transparent, so I could clearly see the details, but it didn’t stop my idea completely.

Sadly, nowadays Google gave me glasses, and that experience was difficult. In fact, my first thinking was whether Google Glass I did in 2014 are the same as today’s Android XR prototype glasses. It was very close.

My old Google can take glass photos and videos, but he did not present a preview on his small, head -mounted display. Google’s maps were in the direction of the twist, but it did not contain animation or head tracking that offers Android XR.

Clearly, there was no AI communicating AI on Google Glass like Gemini, and it could not see your eyes or suggestions. What does both do? Both of them lack apps and features.

Which comes first, Android XR software or smart glasses to run it?

Should the developers have a code for a device that does not exist? Or should Google sell smart glasses even though there are no developers yet? Nor The problem with AR glasses is not just a chicken and egg problem that comes first, software or device. The reason for this is that AR hardware is not ready to give eggs. We don’t have chicken Or Eggs, so there is no benefit to what comes first.

Google’s Android XR prototypes are not poultry, but they are an excellent bird. Glasses are incredibly lightweight, keeping the display and all inside tech. They are relatively stylish for now, and Google’s major partners stand in Warby Parker and soft monster.

The display itself is the best smart glass display I have seen. This is not huge, but its view is better than the rest. It is just off the center of your right eye vision. And the pictures are bright, colorful (if Parbasis) and Flickr Free.

When I first saw the time and the weather, it was a little text and it didn’t stop my view. I can imagine keeping a small headup display on my glasses all the time, just to give me a sharp flash of information.

It’s just the beginning, but it’s a very good start. Other smart glasses have not felt as if they belong to the initial line, leaving on the retail shelf. Finally, the display will grow, and it will have more software. Or no software, because the feature set seemed incredibly limited.

Nevertheless, only Gemini’s impressive new multi -modal capabilities and intuitive (and very entertaining) Google Maps on the XR, if the price is not terrifying, I will not mind being an early authority.

Of course, the ban on meta -ray is lack of display in smart glasses, so they cannot do most of it. Meta Smart Glass has a camera, but photos stand on your phone. From there, your phone can save them in your gallery, or use smart glasses directly to broadcast directly on Facebook. Just Facebook – It’s Meta, Finally.

With its Android Provision, I am hoping that whatever Android XR smart glasses we get will be more open than meta gear. It should be. Android operates XR apps, while Meta’s smart glasses are running By An app plans to become Google Android XR a platform. Wants to collect information from meta cameras and microphones that you wear on your head.

I have had a lot of fun with Meta Rayan Smart Glasses, but I honestly did not turn them on and used its features in months. I was already a ray Ban Wyfer fan, so I wear them as my sunshine, but I never got too much luck to get the sound recognition and respond to the command. I liked to use them as an open ear headphone, but not when I am in New York City and the noise of the streets can overcome them.

I can’t even imagine that once I have a complete platform with apps and extensions, I will stay with my meta glasses. I am not saying that I have seen the future in Google’s smart glass prototypes, but I have a much better view of what I want to look like the future of smart glasses.
