If you have seen a standby format on iOS, you will know how it feels: When the phone is charging and is kept with it, it turns into a mini -smart display. You get a big watch, photo slide show, widget, or even direct updates, all of this is on your screen. Now Google is working on something similar for Android. The first gesture comes from the recent updated Google Play Services. In version 25.18, Google added a line to the code about a new feature that allows users to “use the cast on standby friendly devices.” What was noteworthy about it is that it was particularly marked for the phone. This suggests that Google is thinking of working more like a smart display on useless and charging the phone.
Right now, Android phones Some tablets and smart display cannot act as cast receivers. But the only real things that stop it are software limits, not hardware. However, it may change soon.

There is also a change in charging tech that can make them all possible. Q2 wireless charging is beginning, and it includes magnetic alignment as Apple’s megasaf. This makes it easier to charge the phone in the state of landscape, which is the key to any kind of smart display experience.
On the software, Android 16 is expected to return the lock screen widgets in its first major update, known as QPR1. Google confirmed that these widgets are part of the hub, which is now being improved for the phone. So when postage and charged on the phone, it can soon show a combination of watches, photos and widgets like standby mode on the iPhone.
However, even more evidence has come from a deep look Android 16Code. The power menu has found a new “standby” button, and it seems that screen saver and lock screen widgets launch at the same time. Which connects everything together.
Nothing is still official, but all the symptoms suggest that Android standby is on track to obtain its own version of the mode. Between new standards of charging and incoming Android updates, your phone can soon double as a smart display when it is charged. This is definitely an interesting development that I hope will come soon. I can definitely see myself while working in standby mode or sleeping.
