Google Search’s AI mode launched restaurant reservations in August, but the feature has so far been opt-in via the Labs flag. Changing today, restaurant reservations through EI mode are now out in the US for everyone, along with event tickets and beauty and wellness appointments.
It works with partners like OpenTable, Rizzy, Talk, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, Vivid Seats, Booksy, Fresh and Wagaro. You just need to tell the AI mode what you want, including all your needs and preferences, and it will search across multiple platforms and websites to find real-time availability. You will get a curated list to choose from.
Especially for restaurant reservations, the AI mode can even make reservations for you. And agent bookings for event tickets and local appointments are available in the US through Labs. In the future, AI Mode will also book hotels and flights for you.
Speaking of flights, flight deals are expanding globally, to more than 200 countries. The Google Flights tool launched in the US, Canada and India in August. It lets you specify where, when and how you want to travel, and uses AI to understand what you want and show you the “best deals available”. This seems like a very useful tool if you’re flexible with your dates, as it saves you from having to search for a million different date combinations.
Finally, Canvas in AI mode now allows you to “create travel plans that are customized to your specific needs”. If you tell the AI mode what kind of trip you’re planning and the recommendations you’re looking for, you’ll have the option to create a canvas.
It will have real-time data for flights and hotels, photos and reviews from Google Maps, and “relevant information from sites on the web”. You’ll find suggestions that match your criteria, including hotel comparisons (based on pricing and amenities), and ideas for restaurants and activities optimized for travel time from where you’re staying.
You can ask follow-up questions and get help with trade-related choices. And you can always jump back through the history of AI mode. Travel planning with Canvas is available on desktop in the US if you opt into the AI mode experience in Labs.
