YouTube has been a part of my life since the late 00s. It is no secret that today’s YouTube is far from what happened before. YouTube was free at that time. Free from subscriptions, free of advertising, even free from terrible video tips. It was rough and real. Now when we open the app, we bomb with popups and ads, and the algorithm is terrible in surfaced things that we want to see.
So like many of you, I went looking for alternatives. I was looking for some calm and more focus. There is really no alternative to YouTube, but there is a huge client that returns old YouTube. This is called Newupype, and this has become my way to see YouTube.

This YouTube is not a clone like YouTube Wancid. It is a strip down the viewer built around Google’s YouTube app, which keeps it clean and faster. New Pipe is an open source streaming client for Android, developed in 2015 and is retained by a small team of volunteers. The app is hosted on F -drod. It does not collect user data or track anything in the background.
The thing that makes the new pipe besides other customers is how little it asks my phone. Developers designed to make the app lightweight, fast and efficient. I can report that they succeed, because the new pipe barely rotates the system’s resources. And yet it plays videos without the intervention of popups, ads, or before roll. There is no user account here, so there is no algorithm or tracking. I can also download videos to watch offline
The app also supports multiple streaming platforms beyond YouTube. You can watch videos from pararitob, sound cloud, band camp, and Media Dot CCCD, which is much more than a simple YouTube replacement. This YouTube also creates a useful tool to find out free materials out of the environmental system.

Background playback is something that surprised me. I can leave the app or turn off the screen completely and my video will continue to play in the background, which is great to hear the podcast without jumping YouTube music hips. The picture in the picture works exactly, so I can quickly play the video by checking my emails or writing a note in Osidian.
I did not expect the way it handled playlists and rows. I can create custom playlists that are locally safe on my device, and completely eliminate the need to sign in to an account. It is easy to look for some videos constantly to watch offline.

But as I said earlier, the main thing that impressed me about the new pipe was its speed and performance. It launches, never speaks, and never calls my notification with unnecessary disorder.

There are business relationships to switch from YouTube to New Pipe. For those who start, when I can read other people’s comments, I can’t post myself. This is not a big deal for me because I rarely engage in YouTube comment drama. This can be a deal breaker for some people.
I also lost YouTube shorts, which I have never taken anyway. However, for my children, this will be a tragedy of the earthly intensity. There is no algorithm, homepage recommendations, and trending videos. You have to look for your desire. Certainly, this means there are fewer holes of rabbits, but that means less discovery. I still open the government site again and again to see if there are some valuable suggestions, and then download them with a new pipe.
One of the important things to remember is that there is no advertisement on the new pipe, but the watch time is not logged. It is stumbling for many creators who rely on subscriptions and ads to earn livelihoods. The use of a new pipe leaves these ads and negates your membership. These creators are not getting paid. I support their channels by subscribing to the official YouTube app and choosing their work. Just remember that the free content does not make itself.

This is a big question, and the answer is yes, but with a warning. The use of a client like NewPype does not violate any laws. Blocking ad is legal. Downloading videos for private use is completely legal, unless you are breaking copy or encryption concerns. Writing your own software for accessing public web service is also completely legal.
However, what the New Pipe violates is the terms of YouTube’s service. These are the rules of the house that Google has established to use its service. I am not violating any laws using a new pipe, but I am going against some YouTube policies. I risk Google to block my IP or stop my account completely. But since neopathpe does not use my account, there is still nothing to ban.
The use of a client like NewPype does not violate any laws.
This YouTube is very different from Waynez, which was closed because it has modified the YouTube proprietary app. This copyright was a clear violation of the law. New pipe doesn’t do this. It made its client from the beginning using the publicly available data.

This app gives me exactly what I want from a video player: the videos I have chosen with any kind of blot or aggressive ad. There is no tracking and no disorder. I open it up and see what I have come to see, and I go ahead.
Of course, this is not for everyone. Some users will lose comments and YouTube shorts and horrific algorithms. But for me, this is a great experience. I have now used it for a long time that whenever I go back to it, the official YouTube app feels loud and noisy. The new pipe just works. It’s easy, efficient, and yes, absolutely legal to use, and that’s what I want from my technology.
