A decision by the International Trade Commission (ITC) can prevent some iPhone units built in China from sending them to the United States, an ITC is an American federal agency that rules unfair trade methods. One of its powers has the ability to issue orders to be excluded, which bans products violating intellectual property rights. In 2023, the two companies you are probably familiar with, the Samsung display and the Chinese display maker Boy, were strongly disagreeing with the theft of alleged technology.
The two companies sued each other, and the Samsung display also lodged a complaint in the ITC, which just announced a preliminary decision. The ITC ruled in favor of the Samsung display, which states that the Samsung Electronics subsidiary has proved to be “offering evidence”, which is engaged in “misuse of commercial secrets” to make the smell of its OLED panel. Yes, this is a preliminary order, and the final decision will probably not be made until November. On this occasion, it will depend on US President Donald Trump to decide whether the Boys of the Samsung display patent should be banned from the United States.
If the ban is approved, iPhone units with OLED display manufactured by Boe will not be allowed to enter the United States. As it turns out, American consumers cannot be affected at all. Apple recently approved the OLED display supplier for the iPhone 17 Pro. But this approval only covers the Chinese market. Nevertheless, Boi allegedly manufactures the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, and the US version of the iPhone 16E.
But after all, Apple cannot affect. The reason for this is that the ITC has not specified whether the ban only covers the OLED display or it includes the OLED panels of smartphones sporting smells. Even if Apple itself is not included in an exclusion order, Samsung may be tried for companies using the affected Boy e -display and Apple may be one of the companies involved in such legal proceedings. An industry’s internal said that Apple can eliminate boating from its supply chain. It would be a shame, as the company had to work hard to regain Apple’s confidence after increasing the circuit of thin film transistors on its OLED panels of the iPhone 13 series. Boi did not get approved to bring this change from Apple, and it was made to improve the display of display supplier, which was very low. Increasing the circuit width will make it easier to improve production on your iPhone OLED panels.
Boeing estimates that Apple has calculated a total of 20 % orders placed for the iPhone display. Apple can end using OLED panels allocated for iPhone on units sold in China. If the US market is banned, the Boi can focus on the Chinese market and reduce its prices to remove business from Apple’s Korean -based display suppliers such as Samsung Display and LG display.
