Polar Pro Quartz Line ND Filter: Two -minute Review
In photography, we often want more light. This is why people look for large sensors and wider apertures in their cameras and lenses – to get more and more light in a small space of time. If you want a sharp shutter speed to freeze the action, it’s very good – but if you want to use a slow pace, if you want to capture the fading of the car racing past or replace a smooth stream in a blue, silk ribbon?
A sunny day, especially a slow shutter speed, can be difficult – which contains ND filters like Polar Pro Quartz Line Range. Available in widespread powers, these circular filters can come to the front part of the camera lens and reduce the transfer of light without affecting the colorful rod. At least, that’s the idea.
Polarpro sent me four ND filters for the test, all in 67 mm thread size (they are also available in 77 mm and 82 mm), ND8, ND16, ND64 and ND1000 powers. The ND8 filter drops the light input and increases the exposure time from three stops. ND16 Four Stats; Nd64 six stops; And the ND1000 filter stops 10. Obviously, it would be easy to keep a set in your camera bag if you want to meet every event – but it will also be a great expensive.

Each filter comes with his hedge hard carincases and micro -fiber cleansing clothing, emphasizing his premium positioning. Cases are severe plastics, but it has a brushed metal complement and magnetic closure, and each is labeled with thread size and ND value, so as to reduce the time to remove the right from your bag.
The filters themselves are well -manufactured and beautifully solid, so at least it feels that the money is going somewhere. Made of brass and aluminum (and with a specific brass color), they make strict assurances, which joyfully grabbed me with sparks when I linked them to or separating them from my Panasonic Lomix GH6’s lens (I used 62 mm to 67 mm, 67 mm.
The construction of the brass frame should also be kept in good condition in theory – so these filters should be easily fit for many years to come. I felt very easy to fit them, but you would expect the new filters. The front threads are also presented, which allows other filters and attachments to be attached to them.

The glass of the Glass, the Dub Cinema series is made by Polar Pro, Germany. A series of coatings eliminates a colorful shift (any kind of color cast is being added by the filter), and Polar Pro also claims that its very low refrigeration minimizes the effects of lighting so much that it can completely solve the censor with 400MP resolution. Combination also includes anti -scratch, anti -oil and hydrophobic properties.
My Lomix GH6 sensor is only 25.2MP, so in fact the claims of refractory do not help to examine, but in the case of colorful shift I can say that I am affected. Even the most powerful filter of the four I was testing, ND1000, does not include the more visible color cast in the images – but when with those who closely compare the test shots without filters, the filter images are seen a little hot tint.

I won’t call it a huge error, especially when I think that spending more money on ND filters will probably have some experience to post post processing and editing photos. This is not something that cannot be easily fixed or similar, and most observers will not notice it until they find it, but it is certainly present.
Using the filters, I managed to capture the bright, sunny day (10 seconds or more) in the sunny days of the beach. These images paved the waves movement and made the water surface more transparent so that my images could be given more dream standards. It would be completely impossible to carry them without an ND filter, as too much light enters the camera and blows the picture.

I was also able to use the filters to help shoot the video with a wider aperture (ie field depth) or slow shutter speed (more motion fading)). I felt a bit more difficult on these points, as it involves to exchange a little bit between the filters – and this happens when the variable ND (or VND) filters feel invaluable. These allow you to adjust the filter and adjust the power of the ND, and offer a much more quick solution. I’m currently reviewing Polar Pro’s own PMVND Edition II filter with a 2-5 stop range, so look for a deeper review soon.
Although the polarpro quartz line ND filters are certainly expensive, I was fully affected by their premium construction, glass quality and general use, and they would not hesitate to use them in photography and video of their landscape.

In the United States, the price of polarpro -quartz line ND filters is at the same price, regardless of their thread size and filter strength, regardless of the Polar Pro store. Whether you select the powers of 67 mm, 77 mm or 82 mm, or ND8, ND 16, ND 64, ND 1000 or ND 100, the price of each filter. 99.99. Easy and, in my opinion, good price of money – especially pointing out that you get a storage case and clothing cleaning with each filter.
In other countries, the price can be very different. For example, in the UK, the filters seem to be much expensive than US pricing, and the thread size and ND price seems little effect on cost – that is, in Amazon UK, large thread sizes are sometimes smaller than small, where logic is contrary. This is a slightly confused situation, some retailers have offered decent exemptions while others completely accuse them.
