Gemini now lives on Android, now supporting these captions, which gives users a quiet way to communicate with the assistant. This update has launched a widespread roll through the Google App Version 16.23, which is available on both stable and beta channels.

When you start a direct session of Gemini, a caption button now appears in the top right corner. Taping it brings a floating box that shows the text version of Gemini’s speaking response. The captions appear in the middle of the screen and stay in place. They do not show what you are saying in real time, but this transcript can still be found at the end of the session.

The title only appears when you are using the full screen direct interface. If you get out of this screen during the session, the title ends, but if you re -enter before the session is over, they will come back. Once active, the title setting is active for future conversations, so you don’t have to change it every time.

Gemini’s settings also include a new ‘caption preferences’ menu. This ‘intervention directly’ is located under the toggle and links to the system level title settings. This gives users a little more control over how captions appear.

Prior to this refreshing, Gemini Live must have the phone volume at a certain level. If your volume was very low, you can’t start the conversation at all. Now this limit is gone. You can speak loudly on your indicators and read only the answer, which can be helpful in calm places or when you don’t have a headphone.

The idea behind Gemini Live is to communicate more natural sound with AI, but there are clear situations where it is not ideal to hear the spoken response. Whether you are in a silent room or just prefer to listen, the new title option gives users more flexibility.

This refreshing may not be large, but it has solved the real world limit. This shows how people in fact use it on the basis of which Google continues to adjust directly to Gemini. If you do not yet see this feature, stopping the Google app in your phone settings can help stimulate the update.

In my opinion, this is a practical change that improves prevailing. Gemini live still has the potential to grow, but such small updates help make it more convenient and accessible to daily use.
