The Japanese walking method recently made headlines as science -backed methods to reduce your blood pressure and burn more fat. The interval method began in Japan, and it is a form of HIIT training. As its name reveals, you change your speed.
It’s very simple: You run for three minutes with less intensity, then move at a height of three minutes, increasing your heart rate and moving fast. You keep changing the speed for 30 minutes.
Still, if you do not want to walk along with the entire workout your phone or stop watch, you have to set the walk on your Apple Watch as a custom workout.

You should be able to do this with most of Apple’s best watches in the market that runs 11 (if you are using Apple Watch 4, 5 or the original SE, you won’t be able to do so).
How to make custom workout on your Apple Watch is:
- Go to the Workout app on your Apple Watch
- In this case: Select the Digital Crown to select the Outdoor Walk
- Click three dots in the upper right corner, then scroll down to make workouts
- From here, you can choose a purpose on distance, calories, or time -based basis. In this example, you would like to select Customs.
- Create a new custom workout screen, add to the intervals to add.
- Add a 3 -minute work break using a time option.
- Then add 3 minutes of recovery.
- Then you want to repeat the intervals a total of 30 minutes to make a 30 -minute workout. Repeat, and select both intervals.
Once you fix these intervals, you can name the exercise and save it in your Apple Watch. When you choose to exercise, the clock will inform you every time you need to change the speed, meaning that you will continue to watch your phone or stop watch on the go.
When you are running, you will be able to see how long you have left at every break, as well as your average speed and heart rate.
If you decide that walking workout is not for you, you can delete custom workout at any time. Just go from your Apple Watch to workout, and click on the editing icon to the right left corner. Once you are in exercise, scroll down and click Delete the exercise.
