Eser Prades Connect W6X: A minute Review

Like most manufacturers, Acer is focusing on the latest Wi -Fi -7 technology in his best routers and mesh systems.

One of the benefits of WiFi 7 is the use of its high -speed 6.0GHz frequency band, which provides far faster than the previous version of Wi -Fi. However, there are millions of people who are still using old computer and mobile devices that support only 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz bands that are used by the previous generations of Wi -Fi 5 and Wi -Fi 6.

To provide a more affordable option for these users, Eser has also released the Predator Connect W6X, which provides the basic dual band Wi-Fi 6 support using 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz band, which is high-speed 6.0Gbps (and also consistent with old devices that use Wi-Fi 5).

Eser uses the hunter name for his gaming PC and accessories range, and while the Predator Connect W6X is certainly not the fastest router around it, it can still provide faster, affordable options at a highly competitive price for gaming, streaming and other tasks.

The only problem is to find the right router with the right model number on the permanent non -helpful website of the Acer.

Contact Eser Hunter W6X: Price and Availability

    • How much does it cost? 9 169 / £ 99 / AU $ 299
    • When is it available? Now
    • Where can you get it from? Available in the US, UK and Australia

Your first task is to make sure you find the right model on the Acer’s website, as the company sells multiple routers in the hunter connection range that looks almost the same and the model numbers are very similar.

We tested the hunter connect W6X, which you can see by counting its six outer antenna. However, there are also models called Predator Connect W6 (eight antenna) and W6D (four antenna), which have very similar designs, though they have some different technical explanations.

And Acer’s Australian website manages to refer to the W6X as both the tri -band and the double band router with carelessness, depending on which web page you see, so you really need to take care when ordering online.

Suppose you manage to find the right model, then the Predator Connect W6X is directly available from Acer in the United States and Australia, which costs $ 169 / AU $ 299.

When it is a competitive price than similar to similar Wi -Fi 6 routers, but they are consumers in the UK who think it gets the best deal, because the W6X costs only £ 99. This is not sold on the Acer website in the UK, though, you will need to make purchases online.

    Eser Predator Connect W6X: Design

    • Low profile design
    • Eight outer antenna
    • Four Ethernet ports for wired contacts

The Acer Pradater Connect W6X certainly looks like a gaming rotor, which has a black, low profile design and a scary array of dagger-like antenna (it’s six antenna-nuts, not four or eight).

The rotor body stands only 50 mm in height, 270 mm wide and 187 mm deep, but the adjusting, rotating antenna is 170 mm tall so when you make sure you will need a lot of room to ensure that the antenna can spread and wide.

The cheap W6X does not have a row of shining lights that you get on some gaming rotors, but Acer has not cut too much corners to keep the price low.

The Router Back Panel provides a 2.5GB Ethernet port for high -speed Internet connection, and if you prefer intermittent wired connection to your online gaming sessions, four gambet Ethernet ports are available for gaming PC or console.

There is even a USB port to add network storage drive. It uses a USB-A (3.0) connector instead of USB-C, but it is rarely criticized at this price.

    Eser Predator Connect W6X: Features

    • Free security from Trend Micro
    • Free control of parents
    • QOS for gaming and streaming

The Predator Connect app provides many useful features, but it is not as user friendly as it may.

Many routers provided with the same network, different frequency bands automatically put things easy for things, while others prefer to create a separate network for each frequency band.

The predator app does not work for any of these – it only starts with filling the screen with different network settings and leaves it to the user to decide which options are to choose.

This is fine for more experienced users, but domestic users who are not familiar with terms like ‘band steering’ and ‘SSID’ may be a bit confused.

Once this work is done, the app provides features such as the ability to create a network of guests, or prevent internet access to individual devices. There is also a QOS option – the quality of service – which allows you to prioritize devices, such as gaming PC or console, which requires maximum performance.

However, some features have been made unnecessarily complicated. The app includes numerous safety features and parental control, and we are happy to know that they have been provided free of charge, which does not need to be paid extra monthly membership – as is the case with some rivals.

But, it is surprising that initially these Predators are closed inside the app, which only tells you to leave the app using the web browser interface to activate these features and contact the router.

Once again, this is something that will appeal to more experienced users, but it may be confused for people who have never used the browser interface to connect their router.

    Eser Predator Connect W6X: Performance

    • Double band WiFi 6
    • 6 GB PS SUCCESS
    • 2.5GB Ethernet for Broad Band connection

    Eser Predator Connect W6X: Benchmark

    Okla Speed Test – 2.4GHz (Download/Upload)

Within 5 feet, no obstacles: 150Mbps/150Mbps
Within 30 feet, three partition walls: 70Mbps/70bps

    20GB Steam Download – 2.4GHz

Within 5 feet, no obstacles: 150Mbps
Within 30 feet, three partition walls: 70Mbps

    Okla Speed Test – 5.0GHz (Download/Upload)

Within 5 feet, no obstacles: 150Mbps/150Mbps
Within 30 feet, three partition walls: 150Mbps/150Mbps

    20GB Steam Download – 5.0GHz

Within 5 feet, no obstacles: 150Mbps
Within 30 feet, three partition walls: 150Mbps

Predator Connect W6X is in no way the top -off range of range, as it is based on old Wi -Fi 6 technology.

Nevertheless, its 6GBPS rapid most of the domestic broadband services should be higher enough. Our normal office router can manage about 80 80Mbps on a 2.4GHz band on the Oakla speed test with devices in the same room.

This is much less than 150Mbps available with our Office Internet connection. Steam downloads more on 40 MBPS. Switching to 5.0GHz on our office router provides some improvement, which increases the Ookla test to 120MBP, and 100Mbps for steam.

But, when connecting nearby devices, the W6X was at a maximum of 150Mbps for both tests on both the 2.4GHz and the 5.0GHz band.

I also have an office in the back of my building that is suffering from a disturbing Wi -Fi ‘dead spot’ because my ordinary office router cannot provide reliable signal at this location.

The W6X managed to reach the office, though its 2.4GHz band struggled a bit and sank at 70Mbps for both Okula and Steam.

Fortunately, the router’s 5.0GHz band stepped into the plate and quickly extended both steam and Okla tests to a full 150 MBPS.

Therefore, although Acer Prades may not be the fastest router around the W6X around, it performs very well for the affordable Wi -Fi 6 router and may be a good upgrade for owners of old Wi -Fi 5 routers (especially £ 99) in the UK.

This is not going to break any high -speed record, but W6X is a good, affordable upgrade for people who are still using an old router provided by their ISP.

It has no shining lights for gamers, but low profile design seems smart, and eight antenna array provides good Wi -Fi coverage.

The predator app has some rough edges, but the W6X provides security features and parental control as well as good Wired wired contact that does not require additional monthly membership.
