- Google closes its Android Instant Apps feature in December 2025.
- This feature allowed users to try part of an app without the need to be fully installed from the Play Store.
- Adoption of a low developer is a potential cause, because a lot of work is needed to create a small, quick active app version.
There are many different ways to communicate with the digital service, but the average smartphone user prefers to use the mobile app on a website. However, installing a new app whenever you want to try a service can be a problem, which is why Google has made the feature of Android Instant Apps. Android instant apps allow users to test some parts of a mobile app without fully installing users, speeding up content delivery, reducing data and storage use, and providing maximum mobile experience. This feature was rarely implemented by the developers, however, Google is closing it by the end of 2025.
Google announced the feature of Android Instant Apps in 2016 and began to start consumers in early 2017. The way it works is that when you tap a link, the Google Play Store checks that if there is a quick app and runs it without installation. Instant apps are temporarily placed on your device and takes much less space than the full version of apps available on the Play Store.
Here is a demo of the feature of Android Instant Apps that is attributed to Alta SnometA prominent newspaper of Finnish:
Companies like Vemo and Wish were initially something to use Android Instant Apps, which allows them to get apps in front of people and get new users who browse the web. Although the format looks like a clear win for developers and consumers, it is not uncommon to support it. Developers must create a special “instant inbrald” version of their app, which is less than 15MB, which can be pushed to the user’s device without interruption. An app can be difficult to cut to this size, especially for people who have large, complex dependence. It may be difficult that some developers have added support for Android Instant Apps over the past years and it is likely that Google is comfortable to close this feature.
Using the latest construction of Android Studios, developer Leon Alamon took notice while relying on apps. This notice reads as the following: “Instant apps will be removed by Google Play in December 2025. Publishing and all Google Play Instant APIS will no longer work. Tooling support will be removed at the Android Studio Outher Feature Drop. Android Authority Can confirm that this notice is available in the Android Studio, as shown below.

Google has not yet updated its online documents to reflect the wrap of Android Instant Apps, but we imagine that the notice will be published soon. Since very few developers have used this feature anyway, most users may not feel that it is over.
