Samsung has been testing a UI 8.5 for a while, though not everything is going as planned. But now we have a detailed list of what to expect from the next big update.
Tarun Witts has posted a leak chainlog for UI 8.5. Improvements will be made to Dex, such as remembering the size and position of app windows. The battery will get a new, more detailed information screen with remaining time, charging status and daily usage reports from the previous week. Added to this is an enhanced power saving mode that will offer a choice between standard and maximum saving levels.

Samsung will introduce new ways to share your data. For example, QuickShare will have a receive-only mode that will allow only devices signed into your Samsung or Google account to send files to your phone. On the opposite end of the spectrum, QuickShare will use facial recognition and recommend sharing photos with people who are in them.
Cross-device features include storage sharing—you’ll be able to access files on your Samsung tablet and PC on your Samsung phone and vice versa. You can even use your Samsung TV to view files from your phone (which would be a convenient way to browse your photos and videos at home).

It all probably has to do with the move away from Microsoft OneDrive and towards Samsung Cloud. That’s not all, though, you’ll be able to mirror your phone’s screen to your TV and other Samsung devices.
A UI 8.5 will add additional Oracast features, including the option to broadcast your voice to auxiliary headsets and speakers.

Of course there are AI updates in store. Bixby will be better at changing settings and accessing features. It will be smarter when answering your questions (plus, the conversation will have a history). Galaxy AI Photo Assist Editor will be able to create and edit images without forcing you to save each iteration, which should speed up the process. And if you go too far, the modification history will let you choose your favorite version.
Changelog has many features.

A UI 8.5 will likely debut with the introduction of the Galaxy S26 series in late January. Eligible phones from the Galaxy S, Z, A and other series will get it as an update, but the timeline is anyone’s guess at this point.
