After several leaks and a prototype showcase, Samsung has officially announced its first triple smartphone. The Galaxy Z Trifold epitomizes Samsung’s expertise in foldables, which now spans over 16 devices, and brings some clever software tricks and flagship specs, as well as the biggest screen of any Galaxy foldable.
The key advancement on the Z-Trifold is its dual titanium hinges, which allow the central folding screen to be completely secured when not in use. Unlike Huawei’s fellow XT and Mate XTs, the Z Trifold’s cover screen is on the back, while both sides of the folding screen can be folded into the center.

Speaking of the folding screen, it measures a whopping 10 inches when fully unfolded with a 2,160 x 1,584px resolution, 1-120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. There’s a small punch-hole cutout on the right side for the 10MP selfie camera, and it gets a pre-installed protective film like the rest of the Z-series foldables.

The 6.5-inch core screen features a 2,520 x 1,080px resolution, 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 21:9 aspect ratio. It can produce up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness, includes Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection and includes a 10MP selfie cam.

The software side is covered by Win8 based on Android 16, and the larger canvas allows for some clever multitasking options. You can run three full-size apps simultaneously in portrait mode. The Galaxy Z Trifold is the first Samsung phone to feature a standalone Samsung Dex, which brings a desktop-like interface from the quick settings panel. Combined with a mouse and keyboard, the Z-Trifold can serve as a portable workstation.

The Z Trifold is impressively sleek thanks to its advanced Armor Aluminum frame and it measures just 3.9mm at its thinnest point. It weighs 309 grams and measures 159.2 x 75 x 12.9 mm when folded. Like the Zfold 7 and Z Flip 7, the Z Trifold offers IP48 protection against dust and water.

Trifold brings Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite to the Galaxy, just like on the Zfold 7, which is now a generation behind the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. It is paired with 16GB of RAM and either 512GB or 1TB of storage.
The back inherits the Zfold 7’s triple camera setup, which includes a 200MP main shooter (isocell HP2), a 10MP 3x telephoto sensor, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens.

Samsung also placed a 5,600 mAh three-cell battery split between each of the device’s three back panels. It gets 45W wired and 15W wireless charging.
The Samsung Z Trifold will be available in a single finished black color. While pricing was not revealed yet, we have confirmed that buyers in South Korea will be the first to grab the device as it will be available starting Friday, December 12. Samsung confirmed that it will expand availability to China, Taiwan, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, United Arab Emirates and the US in the future.
