The Latime X Mini 12V battery is more than just a normal lipo battery with current and capacity.

Retime X Mini Battery – Specifications

    Battery Capacity: 4096WH

Number of Charge Cycles: Over 4000 before 20% drop

    Output power: 2560W

    Fastest charge time: 2 hours

    Additional features: Bluetooth, IP65

    Weight: 25 kg

The 4 kW type is about the same size as a car battery. It features an intelligent BMS, Bluetooth telemetry, self-heating capability, and durability of more than 4,000 charge cycles before experiencing a 20 percent charge loss. Even more remarkable is the unit’s compact size and relatively light weight, just 25 kg.

Latetime provides many accessories to support the 12V battery. Users can create the best portable power station for their needs with a charging time of one hour and an output power of 2.56 kW.

The companion 2 kW inverter is ideal for retrofitting in an RV, providing plenty of power for remote access. The battery supports low temperature operation down to -20 degrees Celsius.

Retime X Mini Battery: Price and Availability

The 320AH capacity 12V battery has an MSRP of MSRP 930 and is currently on sale sale 50 for 650. Just one battery won’t do much, and a complete system with 720W Charger and 2000W Inverter Adds an additional $730, which is relatively cheap, considering similar 4KWHR/2KW stations have a $2000 price tag.

    Retime X Mini Battery: Design

From the outside, a lithium lipo battery looks strikingly like a lead-acid battery, with a similar form factor but with smaller posts.

The battery ships with a product manual, patches, and a quick start guide. The 25 kg unit measures 38 cm x 19 cm x 25 cm. IP65 certification protects against water ingress if the product comes into contact with water.

Since the case is hermetically sealed, the plastic enclosure will dissipate heat while charging at the maximum allowed power. Two handles, one on each side of the battery, allow the unit to be carried with little effort.

The tested 12V, 320AH battery produces 12.8V with an internal resistance of less than 40MΩ, providing a maximum power of 2.56kW. Charging current is limited to a continuous 200A, resulting in a charge time of about two hours.

Lat-time recommends using 20% current capacity to prevent heat build-up. In this case two embedded nuts act as positive and negative terminals. A torque wrench set to 12 Nm secures the M8 bolts to the cable lugs and battery.

We sell two essential accessories for lithium batteries. The AC inverter is built around a pure sine wave generator that can output up to 3 kW for the 12V model. The 2 kW model we tested included four 120V AC sockets, two USB ports, a remote control port, and a high-power terminal connector.

Another, but equally important, accessory is the battery charger. We tested an 800W unit that produced significant noise from its fan. This type of energy storage is usually not appropriate in an office and is better suited for a remote location or garage.

Retime X Mini Battery: In use

A full battery system is inherently pass-through, where charging current flows through both the battery and the inverter, thus doubling as an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in the event of a blackout.

The ability to adjust the setup according to the owner’s usage is also a nice feature that other non-modular units lack. A second inverter can easily be added, turning the system into a 240V station, or the battery capacity can be increased by connecting up to 16 batteries in parallel and series.

Latetime mobile app is available on both Android and iOS platforms and supports battery only. Setup involves adding the unit via Bluetooth using a combination of QR code and barcode.

Battery status is available from the main menu and includes capacity, output voltage, current and power. The app can turn off the unit’s Bluetooth module, saving energy. Bluetooth is automatically re-enabled when charging the battery.

Latetime battery products feature a built-in battery management system with more than 20 safeguards, including over-active and temperature protection. LIFEPO4 chemistry is also more stable than other lithium chemistries, significantly reducing the risk of thermal runaway. The battery is protected against high temperatures and certified by organizations such as FCC and CE.

Retime X Mini Battery: The Competition

Reneji’s basic Mini, the closest model we’ve tested, supports 300AH instead of just 320AH. Since the Core Mini is a 12V model, the net power draw is about 16WH for a similar size, weight and price. The base Mini’s output power of 1800W is also lower than the LateTime’s 2560W.

Retime X Mini Battery: The Final Verdict

Lithium power storage doesn’t get more modular than LateTime’s X-Mini battery and its accessories.

Upgrading the system involves connecting wires to additional batteries and inverters. At the same time, it can go more places than its integrated counterpart for the same amount of energy.

The X-mini has a reasonable price, good build quality, and excellent online support. The Bluetooth connection is a nice addition, allowing for constant monitoring of vital battery indicators.

The documentation could be better, showing more detailed diagrams showing how to extend the system. Since only the battery supports Bluetooth, one cannot remotely control the inverter output or check the overall performance of the system.

If buy x coins… You may want to increase the battery capacity or output power later.

If not buy X coins… DIY is not your cup of tea.
