Google is launching Gemini 3. The latest suite of AI models is certainly the best yet, and comes to replace Gemini 2.5, which was introduced at Google I/O in May.
Gemini 3 is also getting AI mode in Google Search (for Google AI Pro and AI Ultra users), and in the Gemini app for everyone. “It’s much better at detecting the context and intent behind your request, so you get what you need with fewer hints,” says Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

Google says Gemini 3 is “the world’s best model for multimodal understanding”, delivering “more visualizations and deeper interactions”. The Gemini 3 release begins with the Gemini 3 Pro, “in preview.” Next up will be the Gemini 3 Deep Think, which is currently being tested by “safety testers”. Once they are done with it, it will be available to Google AI Ultra users.
The Gemini 3 Pro “significantly outperforms” the Gemini 2.5 Pro on every major AI benchmark. According to Google, it brings “a new level of depth and nuance to every interaction”, for real insights are “smart, concise and direct, commercial clichés and flattery – telling you what you need to hear, not just what you want to hear”. The Gemini 3 outperforms the Gemini 3 Pro in the Deep Think benchmark, but the trade-off, of course, is that it takes longer to catch up.
Gemini 3 is better at helping you learn anything, because it was built from the ground up to “seamlessly synthesize information about any subject in multiple modes, including text, images, video, audio, and code.”
Google says the Gemini 3 is its most secure model yet, whatever that means, and that it has “the most comprehensive set of security checks of any Google AI model to date”. It shows “reduced siphoning, increased resistance to instant injection and improved protection against abuse by cybercriminals”.
