The Galaxy S24 Ultra was one of the major milestones for Samsung’s flagships: it was the first with a titanium frame, a completely flat display, and a revised zoom setup that traded the 10x snapper for a sharper 5x telephoto camera. Two years later, it’s no longer on Samsung’s official roster, but it can still be bought refurbished or second-hand for a much cheaper price than the ₹1,300 for the brand new Galaxy Ultra.
Now we’re nearing the start of 2026, when Samsung is expected to The Galaxy S26 Ultra—a generation that is said to bring many long-awaited changes to the company’s ultimate flagship. Rumors point to an interesting and more efficient OLED panel with an interesting quirk, Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a better charging experience, and a main camera upgrade that should improve image quality (especially in low light). This comparison explores what the two Gen Leaps might look like in practice. will do S26 UltraDoes the upgrade really add a big difference for S24 Ultra owners?

Galaxy S24 Ultra The Ultra modernized the look with a titanium frame and a flatter front glass, dialing down the edge curves without sacrificing that boxy, Note-style silhouette. This year, Samsung made further adjustments with the S25 Ultra by reducing weight and reducing weight.

S26 Ultra No drastic changes are expected to be introduced. Rumors point to a body that is slightly thinner than the current generation (around 0.4mm), but the overall body design will likely remain the same. There were rumors that the S Pen would not be offered this time around, but that was quickly dispelled.

One area that could change is the camera module on the back. The S24 Ultra’s separate “floating” lens ring looks neat, but this design might not be sufficient for the rumored upcoming changes. S26 Ultra. To accommodate thick optics, S26 Ultra A unified camera can return to the island.

Materials and durability should remain flagship-grade (titanium-style frame, IP68), and Samsung’s more subtle color palette is likely to continue.

    *Rumor/expectation

Samsung’s OLEDs have been great for years, and the S24 Ultra’s 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X was already great thanks to its high brightness. S26 Ultra It’s tipped to stick with the 6.9-inch screen (like the current model) but move to a new M14 material/COE stack, which reduces internal reflections and power draw while pushing peak brightness to around 3,000 nits. We expect the excellent anti-reflection Gorilla Armor that was introduced with the S25 Ultra to be improved, further enhancing outdoor readability.

There’s also talk of a “Privacy Display” toggle linked to Samsung’s FlexMagic Pixel tech that will tighten at viewing angles to protect against shoulder surfing without dimming the screen. Otherwise, you can expect to carry the familiar QHD+ resolution, 1-120 Hz LTPO refresh rate, and ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

    *Rumor/expectation

S24 Ultra Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performed well for its time, but this year it got a big boost with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. With that in mind, we only expect the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 S26 Ultra To create an even bigger gap.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is built on an improved 3nm process with improved GPU (~30%) and NPU (~40%) performance compared to the current latest Qualcomm chipset.

Some reports also claim that Samsung will include a new 5G modem, the Qualcomm X85. If so, we expect it to bring faster data transfer, better battery performance, and AI enhancements. Reports list peak download speeds of 12.5 Gbps and upload speeds of 3.7 Gbps. Memory and storage should be familiar: 12GB of LPDDR5X is expected again (with faster, more efficient modules), and the 256GB/512GB/1TB tier should return. Note that Samsung often offers “free storage upgrades” at launch.

on software, S26 Ultra Should debut A UI 8 on Android 16 comes with Samsung’s seven-year OS/security commitment, which is the same promise that keeps the S24 Ultra deep into the 2030s.

    *Rumor/expectation

Samsung made a smart move with the S24 Ultra by going for a high-res 5x zoom and dialing down aggressive sharpening across the board, relying on processing at long ranges. for S26 Ultrarumor has it that we might finally see an upgrade to the camera hardware.

We’re expecting either the larger ~1/1.1-inch 200MP Sony sensor or Samsung’s HP2 with a wider f/1.4 lens to remain. Either way the low-light performance of the main camera and its high dynamic range should improve. Plus, we’ll have the added benefit of a more natural background blur without turning on portrait mode.

The rest of the camera setup should remain the same: a 50MP ultra-wide, 5x telephoto, and 3x telephoto cameras. Samsung will likely keep the more natural color toning introduced with the S25 Ultra, favoring realistic tones rather than the overly vibrant look of older models.

The selfie camera is expected to remain 12MP, with the long-rumored under-display version unlikely to appear this year.

Video may be where Samsung focuses most of its focus this time around. With Apple still leading in cinematic video and stabilization, Samsung is expected to close the gap with smarter HDR, better mic audio, and possibly some new shooting modes.

    *Rumor/expectation

Samsung has always been conservative with battery capacity, and that probably won’t change: S26 Ultra The S24 is also expected to pack a 5,000mAh cell like the Ultra. Even so, we could see better performance from the new Snapdragon and OLED stack display, the combination of which could translate into a small but welcome real-world bump in battery life. Where we can finally see is a more serious change with charging speed. Several reports point to wired up to 60W S26 Ultra (a step up from the S24 Ultra’s 45W). If it does, expect specifically 0–50% of the time. Wireless charging should remain 15W, with the Q2 magnet being an open question: full magnetic alignment depends on how Samsung isolates the S Pen’s digitizer from interference. The S24 Ultra does not support QI2 at all.

    Summary

If you’re looking to upgrade from the S24 Ultra, S26 Ultra Looks like a good time to do it. In addition to the thinner body and more durable, anti-reflective display introduced on this year’s model, you’ll also get a much more capable chip, an improved main camera, and (finally) a true flagship.

Still, the S24 Ultra is a fantastic phone, even today. It has a titanium build, a bright and smooth display, reliable battery life, and a versatile camera system. In addition, it has Samsung’s seven-year support, which means you continue to support it for 4 more years before you stop receiving new features and security updates.
