As is usually the case, the unveiling of new flagship chipsets opens the floodgates of new flagship phone launches. Oppo is kicking off the Find X9 generation with two models—a mid-range model and a larger model. This happened last year as well, later we got the top of the line ultraphone and the smaller “S” model.

Find the Oppo X9 and find the X9 Pro
Both the Oppo Find X9 and X9 Pro are powered by the new Dimension 9500. The new chipset has a 32% faster CPU, 33% faster GPU and a massively faster NPU, which is 111%. It’s not just about speed, the 9500 is also more efficient, 55% for the CPU, 42% for the GPU and 56% for the NPU.

The X9 models have 120Hz OLEDs that can reach 1,800 nits of full-screen brightness and 3,600 nits of peak brightness with outdoor mode. They can even go to 1 NIT just to check your phone at night.
Find the Oppo X9
A major improvement of this generation is the ultrasonic fingerprint reader. The X8 series optical reader has been retired.
The Oppo Find X9 features a 6.59″ display, the same as its predecessor. However, it has received a massive battery upgrade – the vanilla model now has a 7,025mAh capacity, up from the X8’s 1,395mah. Charging speeds are the same, requiring an upgrade (plus a wire and 50W wireless over the top).
The OPPO Find X9 Pro sports a large 6.78″ 120Hz display. Again, it’s the same as its predecessor. The ultrasonic FP reader is also present on this model.
Find the Oppo X9 Pro
The Pro model has an even bigger 7,500mAh battery. That’s 1,590mAh more than last year’s Pro. The charging system is the same – 90W wired, 50W wireless, 10W reverse. According to OPPO, the battery health will be at least 80% after 5 years of use.
Find the Oppo X9 Pro
Well, let’s talk about the cameras and we’ll start with the Pro. The main camera uses a 50MP Sony LYT-828, 1/1.28″ sensor. It’s a couple of generations larger and a couple of generations ahead of the 1/1.4″ LYT-808 inside the X8 Pro. It also has a better lens, an F/1.5 7-element lens with OIs. Interestingly, Oppo has opted for a new default – 50MP mode for the camera instead of the usual 12MP.

Moving on, the 200mp Hausbild camera had a 1/1.56″ sensor with pixel-level calibration and DCG HDR (the benefit of dual conversion, meaning each image is sampled twice). The Pro’s 73mm telephoto camera had a smaller 50mp 1/1.95″ sensor.

Oppo also put a lot of effort into video capture. First, instead of long-form videos, you can capture motion photos. But if you want a longer video, you can capture high-quality footage with log mode or use Dolby Vision. All cameras can record 4K 60FPS Dolby Vision videos. The main and telephoto cameras can also go up to 4K 120fps.
The smaller and cheaper Oppo Find X9 features a 50MP main camera, using the older Pro’s sensor. 1/1.4″ LYT-808 with F/1.6 lens with OIS. For comparison, the X8 had a smaller 50MP 1/1.56″ LYT-700 sensor with a narrower F/1.8 aperture.
It adds a 50MP 73mm periscope (F/2.6 lens with OIS) based on a 1/1.95″ LYT-600 sensor. It’s the same as last year. Then there’s a 50MP 15mm ultra-wide module (F/2.0 AF lens and 1/2.75″ Samsung JN5 sensor). Finally, OPPO has equipped the phone with a true color camera, a 9-channel multispectral sensor.
Find the Oppo X9
Going back to the OPPO Find X9 Pro for a moment, Oppo and Hasbild have created a teleconverter accessory. This add-on lens has 12 glass elements and increases optical zoom to 10x for photos (up to 200x digital zoom). Video zoom goes up to 50x. This accessory is only available for X9 Pro.
OPPO Find X9 series launched with Android 16 based Cloros 16. OPPO is promising 5 OS updates and a total of 6 years of security patches.
It has deep integration with Google’s Gemini AI, in addition to in-house AI features. Like, in-house image demosing and retouching for the camera in addition to features like AI portrait glow, AI recorder and AI brain space. An interesting detail is that Cloros 16 natively supports pairing with the Apple Watch.

Both the phones are rated for water resistance with IP66 (water jet), IP68 (waterfall) and IP69 (hot water jet).
