When I tested the pre -production model last month, I was cautious about Acer’s Chrome Book Plus Spin 514, but the final unit is now here and it is based on landing. Well, mostly.
Eser’s latest convertable Chrome Book is an oohs of zipper performances and battery life, as well as a good touch screen with stylus support. But a creamy speaker and no fingerprint sensor makes it difficult to swallow its $ 700 price, and Lenovo Chrome Book Plus 14, prevents our current favorite Chrome Bok from deroning.

Nice
- The best battery life
- Sharp performance
- Styles Support
Bad
- Karimi, a hug -speaking speaking
- Biometric not login
- Lenovo with OLED and more ram is just $ 50 more when it feels slightly valuable to $ 700
Our review unit of Acer Chrome Book Plus Spin 514 is $ 699 Config. It contains Medetic’s Communio Ultra 910 processor (like the recent Lenovo), 12GB Ram, and 256 GBUFS storage. It has a 14 -inch 1920 x 1200 IPS touch screen 120 HHz refresh rate and it shines 300 knots. And it supports the USI 2.0 styles, though they are sold separately and is nowhere on the laptop to hurt them. Eser sells 9 799.99 speculation with 16GB of RAM and 2880 x 1800 resolution display A little bit Bright at 340 nuts, but this recession does not really solve the spin’s largest downside.

I wish the screen more bright (400 nets or more, ideally), and I always prefer OLED and 2.5K resolution, but this is an excellent IPS panel. I maintain that 1920 x 1200 resolution is fine (no TypicalBut the least tolerant speculation) for a 14 -inch screen if everything looks good and vice versa. And this is the case here. It does not look almost bright, bright and contradictory like the OLED on Lenovo, but the sharp 120 Heritz refresh is a decent satisfaction. Styls sensitivity to taking notes on spin 514 in tablet mode is good, though the palm rejecting can be a bit better. I have had some rare matters where my pink finger knocked out a small line. But this is a solid screen with a fine, sharp refresh rate, and it is connected to a strong 360 degree.
The star feature of the spin 514 is its Complete Ultra 910 processor. Arm -based chip is quite faster for everyday production works and ordinary chromosis web apps, and it runs well on battery power easily. Unlike Lenovo’s Chrome Book Plus with the same chip, the spin is cooling fan. It seems that it results in a slightly better benchmark score than Lenovo’s Chrome Book Plus 14, but regularly in use I rarely listen to the fan spin. I can work for eight to nineteen hours that can include silk, Google Documents, play music on spots, many messaging, many open chrome tabs on virtual desktops, etc., and gold for the evening. Next Before charging, I like this kind of freedom.

As far as essential components such as keyboards, trackpads, and ports are concerned, the spin 514 is solid throughout the board. The keyboard is not as small and good as its Lenovo counterpart, but it is nice to type on it, and the key journey is enough. The mechanical track pad is just as good as Lenovo Chrome Book Plus 14, but with better, more moist sound. And its two USB-C ports are twice as faster than Lenovo.

Webcam on Spin 514 is a memorable upgrade from the last acre laptop I experienced. Excessively processed, instead of a cracker image, the 5 -megapixel camera here is sharp and appropriately contradictory. It handles a mixed and low light enough, though instead of sometimes struggling with really bright scenes near the window, it takes a moment to determine that my face has been blown up and need to tin. But on average, it’s a great webcam.
Where the Speaker of the Acer Falters Spin 514 and the biometric login is lacking. If you use an Android phone, you can protect yourself by attaching and closer your phone to your lock screen pin every time. But this is not an alternative to open your laptop quickly with your fingerprint. Speakers are equally unusual, and they are on the part of the keyboard that they fire in the table / tent mode. But even when you are based, they get mud and mixed. You can always stop poor speakers with a headphone or external speaker, but it is a difficult in it otherwise great laptops.

Acer Chrome Book Plus Spin 514 is not the Queen of the new king or Chrome Box, but it is a respected Duke or Dux. These new -arm -based chromebuks strike that the only right balance of excellent performance and longer battery life, and I do not see much reason to sacrifice one or both with an intel -based model unless you are really price sensitive.
If I myself is buying a high -end chrome bok at a high -end, I will pick up $ 50 in addition to Lenovo Chrome Book. I like 2-in-1 converts like Eser because they occasionally remove me from the way to see the keyboard, but I have no objection to staying on the element of the Klim Shell Form in exchange for OLED display, good speaker, and fingerprint sensors. If the price was high, I can again consider things. And it’s probably just a matter of time. Acer laptops are often sold, and Media Relationships for Acer Kelly Old told me that it would potentially get a $ 699 laptop exemption up to $ 599.99 in the best purchase. I can still suggest spin 514 to someone at its full price Really A changing Chromebook wants. This is a very good 2-in-1 that will be forced to be widely widespread and when it is sold.
