As promised, Qualcomm has announced Snapdragon 8 Elite General 5 as its flagship chip at the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii. It is the successor of last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite and is considered “the fastest mobile system on the world on the world” by Qualcomm.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite General is made on the 3NM process and comes with third-generation Orion CPU, which increases CPU’s performance by 20 % compared to its predecessor. CPU power efficiency has also been improved by 35 %.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite General 5 features the Otta Core CPU in 2+6 Configures, which means that the two prime covers with a maximum frequency of 4.6GHz and six performance cores rotating up to 3.62GHz.
The flagship chip also includes Adrena GPU to handle graphically deep tasks. Although Qualcomm did not mention the GPU name in his press content, the chipmaker said that Snapdragon 8 Elite General 5 KGPU provided 23 % improved performance, 20 % better power performance, and 25 % improved ray tracing. Overall, Snapdragon 8 Elite General increases 5 power efficiency by 16 %, which, Qualcomm, claims that, 1 hour and 48 minutes of extra play time for gamers.
Speaking of gaming, the Snapdragon 8 Elite General 5 comes with full unrealistic engine 5 support for 5 console quality visuals, while tile memory improves the use of hip memory and bandout, and allows mesh shedding developers to group geometry more efficiently.
Since it is 2025, most hardware announcements are incomplete without AI, and Snapdragon 8 Elite General 5 is no different. The chip set has 37 % sharp hexagan NPU and upgraded Qualcomm Sensing Hub, which unlocks agent AI assistants for personal experiences.

On the imaging Front, Snapdragon 8 Elite General 5 includes the Qualcomm Spectra AIISP in the Triple 20 -Bit AIISPS and Advanced Professional Video (APV) Kodak, which is the world’s first mobile platform to receive APV.
